Feel like climbing to even Platinum is Impossible

I mean, I’ve been trying my hardest, but almost 75% of my matches end in disaster and me being mad considering I should be in Plat after 1000 hours…but considering I lost Gold in Dps, Tank and Open, I just realized…

I’m terrible at the game entirely…

It’s just sad to realize the truth, but I guess everyone have their limits and It’s time that I just retire PvP and only do PvE stuff when OW2 comes next year.

Or just play for fun…

Focus one role, main one hero and have second as back up if main is countered hard.

Watch how top players play your main, adapt. Look for someone who can review your game to help you identify mistakes you do to fix.

Yeah, because just climbing in three (or four) queues might not be the best approach. Also, I thought if I understand all 32 heroes, it might be real easy for me to perform well.

But regardless, I think I’m gonna do support only (only because it’s the only one having a chance at plat. ) Kinda makes me just a noob because of healing, but it’s legit the only job I can do… -_-

Climbing is not raw numbers increase, nubmers reflect your improvement. If you play the same do the same mistakes why would you climb? Trying your hardest is not a definition of winning. Trying hardest should be by default, but just trying is not enough, you should do what is win condition, you should define what is win condition. Sometimes it is go backline as hitscan and do 2-4 kills, stagger the regroupp after, win your team a time, sometimes it is right call, like mercy go with me on a flank, or hard pocket me, or switch hero by yourself. May be practice your aim, may be watch your vod to realise what could you’ve done better etc. As lower your rank as more you stuff you would have to work around. Like each gold player does more than 10 mistakes per min, gm player would do 1. And mistakes could be as mechanical as gamesense wise. But the diff between you in gold and a guy in gm, that gm would see his mistakes, and you in gold probbably will think you do good, when you actually not and not even close. Like this I watch my early golden gameplay which I upload like 3 years ago on y2be, now I am gm and facepalming watching this, and I remember I was so proud of these games.

Luck has to do with it to sometimes you ride a massive win streak sometimes you lose. Your on a team you can only focus so much on your self sometimes it’s in the hands of your teammates.

Well, the people in Plat are very good at this game and play it a lot. Some of them watch videos, study, or have thousands of hours on other shooters. All of the casuals and bronze players quit, so the lower ranks are filled with people who used to be higher. It would be weird if it were easy to get into plat unless you happen to know you have unusually good reflexes or happen to favor a character supported by recent buffs and meta.

Been trying for a year, unfortunately I suck.

Just play the game for fun I guess not for number that is SR - competitive is in a terrible state for a while now but until they get rid of washed up devs like Kaplan things won’t change for better - you either accept that fact and keep playing for fun or switch to some better game

Yeah. Sadly, it’s the only game I have and until I do the following of A: Buy a PS5(Which I’m able to.) Or B: Buy an icore9 HP Omen, I’m stuck playing this, since my other two games I 100% completed and I’m not spending money for a new game until I get the new laptop and console.

But what you said first, I might as well play for fun since I know 100% that I’ll never be a master.

There’s literally NOTHING wrong with being a Gold player. Gold is average. Gold is the majority of the player base. The game is definitely not as fun in Gold as it is in Diamond+ but its still a great time.

Last night we reviewed a player who’s on a platinum team who wants to be moved to the diamond team.

He has amazing mechanics (had hit diamond in a previous season) but his positioning is absolutely horrible. I mean, he peaks widow as McCree…

I don’t think I’ve ever met a silver or gold player that really knows what win condition means.

I’ve been playing this game for 2 years. I finally have hit my peak SR at 3350 SR, trying hit get to Masters. Some people make masters after 1 season. Some people make GM the same season they start playing.

Overwatch is hard. Its a complicated game. Beyond that, there are smurfs, throwers, cheaters, and many other issues you have to overcome.

If u want some options you can do vod reviews, get a coach, or find some high level players to help. Or all 3 lol

Got out of gold and went to plat with supp. Game is obviously rigged heavily. Often getting gold healing, elim, obj kills with baptiste while my dps do absolute 0. Enemy dps plays like gm.
10% of games are legit max. Rest are rigged both positive and negative. Result: you dont give AF about the game since your performance doesnt matter. Also the reason the game is dying and they can only think of making OW2 AKA PvE since they have no clue on how to manage PvP. They just bought that patented MM system and thats it. Obviously a huge failor.
If i wasnt bored to death atm, this game would be in the trash already. Doesnt help that i stopped playing for 2 years and only recently got back as theres nothing to do and i stopped with WoW too, since SL is even worse.

If you have anything useful to do irl, do that and dont bother with this crap. Doing you a huge favor, you will thank me in the future.

The only good thing about this OW system is that you are much more suspicious with these systems, especially when games come from companies like blizzard. I can now quickly see if a game wants to waste my time, by rigging or timegating. Blizz has degraded to the worst of the gaming industry along with EA.

I fell a few hundred SR into plat on Damage this season and I haven’t been plat since my initial placement in S2. I was masters by the end of that season and climbed to GM by season 3, where I stayed until role queue happened (got T500 one season, too). After that, I hovered around low masters on every role until this season, which is the first season I’ve really been able to put time into Damage games thanks to priority passes. I used to just do my five Damage placements and stay in tank/support otherwise because I wasn’t willing to wait in long queues. There’s a reason I’m bringing up my past high ranks…

Turns out, I’m not as good at Damage as the other two roles. I think I belong somewhere in mid diamond on Damage but I fell even further than that because I was trying to play like a masters+ Damage player without actually being as good as one. I know what works up there, I know what decisions to make, and I have the game sense to do it but my execution just wasn’t in practice after spending the vast majority of my time on tank/support over the years. I fell trying to ride the hitscan train and perfectly counter enemy picks (mostly with McCree) and that didn’t go well.

Now I’m only about 30 SR away from getting back into diamond. I’ve turned it around, recovered a few hundred SR, and have just about successfully climbed through plat again by playing like a plat player. Plat players usually aren’t in chat and like stack on top of each other to play “low-effort poke war”.

My advice is to give up hope of high levels of coordination (something I was used to having but couldn’t get anymore) and go with super spam heroes. I’ve been cracking barriers with Echo, spamming chokes with Torb, and going with generally hard to hit heroes like Fist and Pharah and those have been my best games. My hitscan win percentages are terrible. Mostly crushing it with Echo, though, and using the others based on maps. Try that and see if it helps.

Your hero selections is not that good. For dps, otp hanzo is not the smartest to climb, winston is also not good, and ana is very bad. You have, especially in low ranks to -1) solo carry hard 2) bring hugh value into your team without them needed to be good. So ana nades and sleeps? Useless. Monkey creating space and dive? Useless. Hanzo getting a hs? Useless they will not push. Try to think more of a “ what hero should i take now to make this game easier for my team and also hard carry” and trust me you will get it easy boy.
