Well dude, the enemy had a smurf.
I was actually a lot like Ethernyet when I was back in bronze.
(I’m a big fan of owl. Grouping up and attacking together is common sense for me. And I couldn’t understand why lots of players piss away ults, feed 1v6, etc)
Then I realised a lot of them youngsters and don’t know what they’re doing.
Heck I’m bronze tank, but doing well last time I played with Rein, as I’ve changed my mind set.
I have zero expectation of my team mates. I just focus on trying to do my job (kill things) and hope at least one of our supports is going to heal me.
(I’ve gotten good at retreating as it often takes bronze supports 5+ seconds to respond after you ask for healing as they’re too busy pocketing their duo partner dps).
I would agree with your post, but not with this lol. He is frequently making fun of players in low ranks and his coaching sucks. He often just laugh instead of actualy help the player and work with him. His content make me sad.
For once we agree on something. It’s sleezy content and his ‘style’ needs to go.

Rein is, but so is Hammond?
My understanding is that it’s “the tip of the spear”. But in bronze Rein isn’t main tank as everybody just runs past your barrier anyway…
And I still recall a gold game where the diamond enemy Zarya was leading the way and just utterly farmed my team. Very very good player.
With regards to coaching, Jayne focuses on basic mechanics. For Rein is shield hopping, fire strike cancel and swing shield cancel. All simple tech that has big impact.
For Zarya I’d expect coaching on the optimal dpr burst combo, etc.
Turning 40 next year myself. First online game I picked up was quake3arena on dial-up.
I really can’t explain why iD software was so cool even beyond the insanely smart people who worked there. I was able to play q3a on Linux because they provided an official native build for linux-x86 systems.
Playing q3a under Linux (Slackware was my main jam from 1996 until around 2000) with full 3D acceleration with a 16MB Voodoo3 AGP video card running on a stock Celeron 300A overclocked to 450Mhz.
Magical days.

Ethernyet should also have had fun otherwise why continue to play the game? The truth is whatever SR you’re at people will “play bad”/throw/smurf. Learn to lightheartedly laugh at yourself and others in the games you’re in and if you’re not enjoying yourself, stop.

I refuse to settle for average and can’t handle not being above average. It’s definitely a personal issue. I don’t expect to be THE BEST… Just among the best…
Because of that mentality, a game like Overwatch can be very detrimental to someone’s personal health. In which case of course, I recommend playing a different game all together…
As I took it to be Rein, Winston, and Orisa are the intended main tanks. I believe Hammond kinda falls into the “wtf are you” spot with Roadhog, which is why they’ve been hard to insert into the meta until recently. Tho currently I think main tank and off tank are becoming more dynamic to the situation rather than static concepts.
Don’t know if I agree with the “tip of the spear” rather than actually the shaft of the spear. Your MT are what control the fight or should be controlling the fight. You can break the tip of a spear (imo dps) and still have a functional weapon, break the shaft(bow? sorry not a weapons expert) and you’ve lost it all. Lose your main tank early and you’ve essentially lost, and yes I know that’s not always the case but it’s a pivotal loss is my point.
I don’t play tank often but Zarya is my go to because it’s the only peel tank that makes sense to me on a subconscious level. Only in gold myself but the biggest mistakes I see zarya’s making is thinking they don’t need cover. When I play Widow I consistently 2 tap bad zarya’s. They stand out in the open begging to die. When I play Zarya I play corners and avoid peeking DPS until I know I’m in beam range 40%+ charge. Oh and Solo graving Nano Blades saves lives and causes tilt lol
