hi, i am a person who barely plays – I also ensure my chat is turned off and has been for over a year now… i opened the game application for it to say:
WARNING
Your recent communication is not in line with how most Overwatch Players communicate
You have been reported multiple times for abusive chat, and further reports may result in you losing communication privileges, being suspended, or facing account closure
please help us create the best possible Overwatch community by staying positive and not resorting to hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or disruptive messages
this is the biggest lie i’ve even seen. how am i in trouble if i dont even have chat active? i cant type. i cant see what people say. i dont have voice chat on either. so what’s the deal…??

if your post is true, it was just automated after x reports.
if you do not have any of the chats active it should be easy enough to appeal.

i promise its true. i have not had chat enabled for over a year because of how rude people are in game. i also have screenshotted the in game message

nobody on this forum can help you besides advising you to appeal the ban. no amount of proof you post in this thread can help.
appeal the ban through whatever means blizzard has for that, i have no idea where to find it, probably though the support link in the top banner. (click your username at the top, menu, with support pops up.)

your not it would of said your account was silenced or suspended and it would popup saying it or atleast suppose to…bobby needs to realize an ai bot cant replace a human

People are just jerks and they send bots after people they didn’t like playing with because they know they’ll get in trouble. It’s ridiculous and egotistical- heckin’ Karens in this video game. Like, you’re not doing a damn thing by reporting someone for no reason. You’re just proving you’re a bully and your ego was bruised because you lost. Wow. So cool of you.
Anyway, appeal it if you’ve actually had chat off. Maybe someday Blizzard will realize that relying on bots instead of humans to make the final decision is the stupidest of ideas they’ve had since stealing animations from Guild Wars 2 for their totally-unique flying mount in WoW.
This game should’ve never become free to play if this is how they’re gonna treat the reporting system.

My friend had this, I had this, I opened tickets, got auto-responses. Never got solution. My friend had to open new account eventually.

The reports never fade. Meaning you could have been reported months ago. And someone reported you recently and you hit the threshold for the system to dish out an automatic chat ban or suspension. I know, it blows. As i always say, either /hidechat and squelch everyone. Or uninstall, go for a nice long walk and find a game that values your time. Because this one certainly doesn’t.

You are the mercy of a random GM in California who has a huge ticket load and hope they read your ticket, apply due process and don’t just fob it off.
If you get an automated reply saying they will uphold the ban it can be because they fobbed off your ticket and didn’t give it the consideration it deserves.

Of course you knowing 0 things about what happened would know all better than me.
I’ve had a similar experience a few months ago on a new account, wasn’t toxic at all but I was talking in chat, got a warning, opened a ticket to warn them I was receiving false reports and they told me to open another ticket once I get suspended, like what?
Sure enough I eventually got suspended for a day like a week after and I didn’t even bother to open a ticket to overturn the penalty for one day.
Great experience overall

automated chat reports also can extend to a few things.
using “voicelines” like “group up with me!” “I need healing!” and spamming other emotes. like “attack the objective!” or “defend the objective”. or spamming pings.
typically this seams to be what it is that gets players into trouble.
