False ban on overwatch from "hacking"

I’ve never hacked in my life and I got falsely banned for playing widowmaker well.

I was playing with some friends and queued only playing widow, the whole night I was doing really bad up until my last 2 games on the account where I hard carried and hit some crazy shots. I was currently P4 and peaked D3 last season, I got banned mid game. The enemy team was saying I was walling and aimbotting those last two games (kinda funny because widow has walls ult).

I got an email about my account and immediately appealed the ban, I don’t really have much hope that I will get it back because its completely automated. I was literally banned because I got mass reported in 2 games.

I will provide the replay codes below so you can see for yourself I was not hacking.

  1. HZPAKT - where I got banned
  2. P41F3R - the game before where I got mass reported

My appeal just got denied and I cannot believe it, I want a real person from support to watch the games I got banned for and tell me EXACTLY what I did that is “hacking”. Not only did I get perma banned from the game for this, but my friends who were queued with me at the time also got banned because of this false ban. I should not get banned for being good at Widow, how is there not an actual anti-cheat in this game? why is it just a report system that bans you?

That’s messed up, from what I’ve seen your gameplay has nothing I would consider “hacking”. I hope someone from the support team can resolve this, and get your account unbanned.

I’ve been playing with Crying for a long time. The ONLY time he gets accused of hacking is when he plays Widow, which should tell you how nonsensical this ban is. The enemy sees the kill cams where he nails his flicks and then doesn’t see how he wiffed 5 shots before that. In this game they literally accused him of walling right after he ulted. Regardless of whether you believe he’s hacking (he isn’t), there should be a manual review, because anyone who watches the replays can tell instantly that this ban is nonsense. Mass reporting shouldn’t get you auto banned. It gives way too much power to toxic players.

Watch out, playing with hackers can get your account banned too.

Tech Support staff and community members here in the forum can’t assist with any account actions. Your only option is to appeal via the ticket system.

What did the email say exactly? Also, most bans for hacking aren’t that quick. They tend to do them in waves, so those replays have little to do with what actually got you banned. It was likely some cheating you did weeks to months ago. Doesn’t matter if you only screwed around with them for ten minutes a month ago, if the system flagged you for cheating, you get slapped with the ban during a wave.

You cheated at some point, so now you’re banned. Even mouse macros/scripts can get you banned.

I used no hacks at all, never. Also I assumed that because the match got cancelled that I got banned right then, I also assume those two replays included the people reporting me, first game I included the whole enemy team said I was cheating, the second game I got banned. I will never accept that I got banned for cheating because I never did. If it’s true that bans come in waves like that, then I have no idea what contributed to the ban. It’s very frustrating because I used to play a lot of csgo and i consider my aim great. Low plat players just can’t comprehend being killed by widow I guess.

i am having a similar issue – for abusive chat except… i never and cannot use chat because its turned off – for almost 2YEARS now. where can one submit a ticket?

Yeah bans don’t work like that. Just because a couple people report someone for hacking, it doesn’t automatically ban them. Most of the bans come in the form of banwaves where Blizzard is aware of popular or new cheats/exploits/bots/macros/scripts/etc that people are using and they wait a while to saturate their dragnet. Then they ban them all at once. This keeps cheat devs from knowing exactly what might have caused the anti-cheat system to detect them. It also lulls cheaters into a false sense of security thinking they are getting away with cheating, which makes the cheats end up more popular, which catches more cheaters in the wave.

Post a screenshot of the email associated with your ban. There will be one and you can black out the sensitive parts of it.

It is a good thing that you can’t identify what got you banned or you would adapt your way of cheating.

Yea, dont do this. Just appeal your ticket through battle.net.

We can’t help you. Posting the email won’t help and could get you in trouble.

Discussing the details of your ban is actually against CoC.

Point is, they aren’t telling the whole truth or are flat out lying. Pretty much anyone that spends time on competitive online FPS game forums or subreddits can probably say they’ve seen hundreds to thousands of these kinds of posts over the years.

Here’s the reality: Dude was cheating, dude thought his hacks/scripts/macros were safe, dude got caught in a banwave and now dude is feigning innocence on the forums. A story almost as old as the internet…

Cool. Now let him go do his appeal instead of taunting him and requesting he make a post he’s not allowed to make.

This thread has been up for days, talking about being banned is against the ToS. The title of this thread literally talks about being banned. If blues really cared that much, they would have closed and deleted the thread already.

He hasn’t done anything that intense yet, like posting his ban email, which would get him in trouble.

" Discussing Disciplinary Actions

This category includes:

  • Creating posts or threads to discuss disciplinary actions taken against a player, including chat logs and email correspondence between a player and a Game Master (GM) "

Thanks for parroting exactly what I just said… At any rate, you’re not a mod and it’s not really your place to pretend to be one. Just report the thread and a blue will or won’t close the thread.

I’m informing him that he shouldn’t post his emails because that could get him in trouble.

I’m not pretending to be a mod, just helping someone not get into more trouble because some rando on the forums thinks he rules the forum and should be the judge for this guys appeal.

It’s actually crazy how this works, for all I know, I was banned mid match for being mass reported. I included the two games I had before I was banned. This is just an impossible scenario I am in where there is no proof of me cheating and I cannot provide proof of me not cheating or evidence I am legit because I am banned and cannot access my game history anymore. The two codes were provided by friends for me.

The email will straight up tell you exactly what you were banned for and account bans are all approved by human moderators.

I am convinced nothing would change your mind at this point, you just have this otherwordly trust in the overwatch ban system for some reason despite other players being banned for similar reasons like Kenzo.

I do not believe that you guys will be of much help, I am at the mercy of blizzard support at the moment. I am trying to bring attention to this problem of false banning for hacking in hopes for blizzard to put in place an ACTUAL anti-cheat instead of this broken report system. I am 100% convinced as well that there is no actual anti-cheat in the game, just a report system. If there is, prove me wrong.
