I know I’ve made similar threads in the past but holy moley
Decided to play 5 games last night - 2 of them had soft-aimbot cheaters in them.
I think I only ever encountered 1 cheater in Overwatch 1 in its entirety.
This is sad. Going F2P only benefits corpos since they can charge 20$ skins under the pretense of the game being “free” while we’re bombarded with terrible monetization and cheaters.
the gmae quality was insanely superior in ow1 but lets not be that dramatic lol, ive encountered many, maybe you just played quick play, in comp there were still several, there is even reports of thousands of account banned in wave bans
Cheaters aren’t even the main problem. It’s all the smurfs that ruin the game for everyone else.
How many times have we seen a number of dedicated streamers like Dafran or Gale make a “Bronze to GM” account?? Hell, they probably have at least 2 gm accounts for each character at this point, which means they have well over 100 in total.
Watching these no-life streamers in a game full of casuals just feels wrong. It’s nothing but seal-clubbing.
Pretty much, they flushed our money and hopes down the toilet and opted for a business format that just invites all types of crap from the internet.
I have never EVER been suspended or muted in OW1, but when OW2 came out and all the kids and mentally ill came flooding in. . . that’s when i knew i was done with the game.
Yeah and im the ghost of x-mas past. Do you have any idea how P2P games work?
I play FF14 and trust me, everyone in that game is super nice and decent compared to this circus.
Plus we’re paying for an actual decent client support that actually needs to be good because they are getting paid to do it.
You obviously never paid for anything in your life, that’s why you can say that and not immediately realize you’re being stupid.
Apples and oranges. FF14 is a game I also have sunk thousands of hours in and I know why you pay mothly: its an MMO. Its just how they work (or HAVE worked, new MMOs cant do a sub, because its an outdated model that no one besides WoW and FF14 players are willing to pay). Its a PvE game and most of the players of MMOs are quite old, while shooter cater to a younger audience.
If you want to have a PvP game that gets huge, you need to be a F2P game. Fortnite, Apex, Valorant and LoL are the perfect examples for that.
I think that you people just have zero clue why F2P games exists, why they work and what type of games should be F2P, sub model or P2P. It shows.
F2P games exist to milk saps like you for all your money, you will never understand how P2P is much better than this crap fast and that’s a fact.
But obviously trying to explain this to you is like trying to teach a fish how to talk, pointless.
Enjoying fooling yourself.
Oh also i actually bothered reading what you said “or HAVE worked, new MMOs cant do a sub, because its an outdated model that no one besides WoW and FF14 players are willing to pay). Its a PvE game and most of the players of MMOs are quite old, while shooter cater to a younger audience.”
This is completely false, which means you’re lying or have no clue what you’re talking about. Im done talking to you.
They had zero clue what to do with OW1, because it was the remains of TITAN and they needed to get the money back. The OW team and the management had no idea what it would become. Otherwise something like “OW2” would not have happend.
Dont get to high on your copium. I have played P2P games and F2P games and in 99% of cases P2P games are finished products that have a limited playtime while F2P games get more and more content over time, while asking money in other ways.
Maybe its a newsflash, but you can play OW2 for free and have no gameplay impacts because of it. It does not matter if you have thrown 10k or 0 into the game, you are still able to play all heroes. You dont need skins. No one does, but some people (likely you also) think that the game is unplayable without some shiny stuff in it.
Sadly yes, but it gets better, but the community does not make it easy and love to look into the past.
But you don’t understand. These streamers are so good that they’ll go from Bronze to GM in a few days, and only impact a handful of players matches, so they aren’t really a problem.

In all seriousness, though, I have less problems with people smurfing than I do with people who’ve only just recently (Less than 30 hours played) picked up Overwatch getting matched with and against players with hundreds to thousands of hours.
There’s just no way a fresh player, who’s still learning all the intricacies of Overwatch, can do even remotely well against someone with thousands of hours. Especially not if they happen to pick tank.
