Yeah it’s a click bait title.
Snap aim, headshot, wobble.
Snap aim, headshot, wobble.
I’m obviously talking about the absurd amount of people aim hacking right now.
TL;DR my rambling:
A huge amount of matches have someone aim hacking now, these people are consistently swinging the result of the match, it’s really obvious they are hacking I’m not being salty.
To summarise each paragraph down there:
- Have kill cam switched on.
- Watch for strange inhuman aim wobble.
- F2P has no consequences so it’s rampant.
- Being used on any hero.
- Lots of different hacks or settings.
- They control the win/loss.
- Reports go unanswered.
- I feel like I’ve been duped into playing a F2P.
I can barely go a game without someone on the enemy team doing it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, make sure you have kill cam switched on so you can observe how you die. If their aim is doing a strange inhuman wobble every time they change target to get that perfect shot, you’re most likely watching someone aim hacking. Think about how your hand moves the mouse, and how hard it would be to physically wobble like that after snapping an aim so violently.
One thing that’s different these days compared to OW1 is there are so many people who just don’t care about being caught, so they crank the settings up and don’t even try to hide it. This is what F2P does, with no consequence, people try things out, even long standing players might do it, with anonymity and immunity comes douchebaggery.
I called one person out on it yesterday asking them to turn it off and they said “nah mate”, and changed to only using it for me as pharah. The potg was in fact me coming up behind them as pharah, them doing a 180, scoping, then killing me point blank with a headshot in the blink of an eye. Sharpshooter potg apparently…
Also, in the past the aim hackers used to be fairly restricted to hit scan heroes, these days it’s anything; I saw a lot of Ramattra when he was OP, ulting then practically vibrating when aiming at people; I’ve seen mei, soldier, widow, hanzo, a lot of ashe, ana, lucio, bap, honestly I think I’ve seen almost every hero aim botting now.
I’ve also noticed nuances between hacks, or maybe just different settings; some are set to bodyshot, some have strange tells like a rapid double click of the ads, some wobble wildly while others are subtle, one was shooting from down upward (looked super odd). Some people will fire an amount of normal shots, then use it when they struggle which gives the impression they are legit; but those normal shots reveal their actual mechanical ability. You’ll see people with zero game sense, no strategy, can’t even use the hero abilities properly like grapple, dynamite, coach gun, wall climb, etc, yet they are a perfect shot with a tell-tale wobble.
They very often give the edge to win the match though, because when it comes to the clutch moments, with so much going on, hacks won’t miss the crucial shot. A large portion of my losses come like this, working through the match with no issue, then stalling out hard as someone dominates suddenly. I finally get killed by them and, sigh, there it is again, wobbly snap aim time.
In Overwatch 1 I used to report a lot of aim hackers, and every time, the next day I logged in, I’d be greeted with the “thanks for reporting we took action” screen. I’m a programmer, control systems engineer, and dabble in game dev, to me these people are obvious so I don’t mind doing some grunt work reporting it to help the community. In Overwatch 2 I report them just the same, albeit constantly now, and nothing. And the “thanks for reporting we took action” still exists, I’ve had one for someone seriously going to town on the toxicity, but never get them for the hackers anymore.
I don’t play F2P games, this is one reason among many, and I feel duped into it by the pivot of Overwatch.
I could leave the game behind, I might, it’s a sad decision to make as any gamer knows.
