F13-F24 Keys not recognized by Overwatch

I want to map my push-to-talk to the F24 Key, but Overwatch seems not to accept any F…-Key higher than F12.

I think Overwatch only supports the standard QWERTY - ANSI/ISO layout. (+ Numpad)

Any additional keys wont function.

Now of course if the keyboard comes with software you can rebind the F24 key to be actually the ~ key or whatever key you wish and bind that key to Voice Chat.

That’s the most simplistic fix i can give you.

Actually I bound F24 to my mouse because it has 12 thumb buttons.
The problem when using ~ or something like that is that it will write out that character in text when for example in textchat.
F1-F8 conflict with my StarCraft 2 settings and F9 is highlight save and F10-F12 are bound to my window manager.
I also tried setting it to the media keys like play/pause, but Overwatch seems also to not recognize these. Why cant Overwatch just simply accept all keycodes?

In StarCraft II the function keys F13-F24 work fine, so this is really just an issue with Overwatch.

Accully F13-24 is standard querty keys. But only few keyboards have phisically that keys. Players often use macro or additional keys (like foot pedals) as VoIP push to talk activators set to those keys, becouse they are not interfere with orhers software.
So it’s very strange that overwatch dont recognize it, and it should be fixed ASAP.

Try to use something strange like ALT+CTRL+HOME or something like that.
I also think that is stupid and should be fixed.

Do note that the use of Macro’s is bannable in Overwatch, so i wouldn’t recommend using that.

Overwatch just supports standard inputs, if third party software is used for inputs then it should be taken towards the company of the third party software since Overwatch does not support it.
I can use extra buttons fine, though it’s just then most likely an issue within the software of the mouse/keyboard.

This is a non sense answer, F13-24 are standard inputs and most games do support it. Apparently in 2024 nobody still gives a damn. I have 4 buttons on my mouse I either cannot use or have to come up with some trick just for OW to use… and on top of that “I might be bannable” LOL

Honestly it’s been a long time since I’m here, but I can still kind of understand what I said before.

It’s not bannable to rebind keys with software related to the hardware you are using (think Logitech G-Hub for example) but it would be bannable to use this kind of software to create a macro out of it.

I personally have yet to see a popularly used keyboard that has keys up to F24 (Unless you are talking a bout keys with extra input buttons, then yes, I would understand what you’d be talking about)

Not sure what OW currently supports, but for my mouse it’s able to support a lot of it’s extra buttons. So if for certain models the game is not able to detect this as an input button, then it’s likely that the hardware or the software related to your input method is not using a common signal to do so (meaning it’s generally unsupported)

A lot of these “macro” or extra keys that come on a keyboard are typically disabled by default as well, so that might also be a reason to why they are not usable in-game.
If they are set to the F13-F24 range then it’s possible OW still does not support it, which isn’t unlikely, as Blizzard probably wouldn’t see the use in allowing these extra buttons. (As for example, I wouldn’t be able to hook up my G29 to the game and use it completely fine, without rebinding via G-HUB)

So best workaround for now is just rebinding these extra/macro keys to a diff button (such as NUM1 and so forth), not bannable, but make sure not to actually create a macro.
