Explain to me why Genji

Can deflect big rocket hammer with little butter knife?

I mean seriously, Reinhardt’s rocket hammer should be able to go through deflect. Not even a small sword could block such a big hammer, not even Genji. I hope to god that Blizzard changes this and lets Reinhardt’s primary fire go through his deflect. It’s annoying when I play Reinhardt and all Genji has to do is deflect my hammer and dash away without getting hurt at all.

Tell me why he SHOULDN’T ,Genji can block all melees ,projectiles and bullets with deflect ,Hammer should be an exception because…?

It’s a party. Explain to me why Zenyatta puts random “orbs” on people? Explain to me why Ana’s darts damage the enemy but heal your teammates?

Leave him alone ffs. It’s for consistency, whether you like it or not.

you dont have to swing at his deflect ? also genji is by no means a counter to reinhard and this change wouldnt fix any problems reinhard has right now

Judo is a martial arts style about using enemy momentum against them in order to divert and avoid their attacks.

Genji uses the same principle to deflect melee attacks, however due to the limitations of game animations vs something like an anime or movie they cannot show you that.

Because that hammer is big enough to shatter that sword and every bone in gengi’s body and has enough momentum to knock around every character in the game without stopping

1.) I didn’t know there was another thread, I literally just got on the forums.
2.) Technically Doomfist’s Rocket Punch is melee, yet he can’t block that. Nor can he deflect Lúcio’s boop, which is also melee range.

Because it’s a damn giant rocket powered hammer. That swings hard enough to move a 550lb, 7’3" man.

Even in the unrealistic world of Overwatch, the hammer wouldn’t be blocked. I’ll only accept the hammer-deflect if it was deflected by Dragonblade

It’s not just annoying, it actually mimics a bug that Reinhardt has, which makes it infuriating. Like our hammer swings already randomly don’t register, we don’t need it happening intentionally

Overwatch takes place in the future believe it or not. his sword is probably made of some incredibly dense material, considering he can cut a car in half with it.

So your argument is "It doesn’t make sense"
Alright then ,why is any of the following okay :

Sombra stopping mccree from doing a roll
Mccree for some reason not being able to shoot targets (in deadeye) because he got hacked
Mccree can’t use a flashbang because he’s hacked
Bastion can still control himself when hacked ,even though he’s a robot
Roadhog surviving a mini-nuke by inhaling gas

Roadhog ,who is simply fat without any protection ,has more HP than Reinhardt.

I could go on but you get the point.

if his deflect sword can deflect 6 bastions all at once, I’m pretty sure it could cut a car in half as well.

All the things you pointed out are for only gameplay purposes. If Sombra couldn’t stop those abilities, she’d be F-Tier.
Plus, Reinhardt basically has 2500 HP, while Roadhog only 900 with Take-a-breather.

Same with the Take-a-breather buff. If he didn’t have that then he’d be dying a lot more. Blizzard makes balance changes. But for Genji, gameplay-wise and realistically speaking his deflect blocking Reinhardt makes no sense.

No, RP shares mechanics with Rein’s charge. Boop having melee range doesn’t make it a melee hit…

I love how Alhaitham and Space are the only ones defending Genji being able to deflect Reinhardt.

I also love how they both main Genji.

Well actually my argument is it doesn’t run well from a gameplay standpoint. It screams bug even though I know it’s intentional. All the things you mentioned do run well from a gameplay standpoint.
