Why is Lucio hiding with his ult to counter Sombra’s EMP ok, but Mercy with rez isn’t?

Mercy can preemptively pop Valk before Sombra uses EMP if she wanted, as EMP doesn’t cancel her ability to chain heal.
It completely removes sound barrier’s shields. Apples and oranges.

Because EMP specifically deletes sound barrier. It’s the most effective counterplay available for Lucio specifically.
For Mercy, it didn’t matter what ult or hero you were up against.
It’s a specific hero interaction vs. general gameplay.

Mercy hiding for every situation was a legitimate strategy.
Lucio hiding is really only good for Sombra EMPs. And it has more counterplay bc of Sombra’s scouting potential being able to secure a preemptive hack.

Anyone hiding for any team fight is a strategy, except for Mercy, it’s unacceptable.
It’s okay for McCree or Soldier to hide for after Mercy swoops in and mass-rez, or just rezzes someone.
It’s okay for Reaper to hide to ult, really, anyone. Not Mercy.
How often are you seeing people trying to bait Mercys into rezzing someone now ? It’s ridiculous.
One is play- counterplay. Both Lucio and Sombra are engaged in bating each other’s ult and keeping track of the opposition’s location to get max value out of their ability . The other is “You expended ults and pushed through while I refuse to do my job that fight? Well too bad that fight didn’t count!”

Nah, the video is legit. It’s part of KarQ’s one tip vs. every hero series. They are pretty helpful, actually.
Which obviously means that some Mercy players have found a way to turn it into a mass rez debate. Nothing is sacred to them.

Because Sound Barrier only works with his team still alive, which by Lucio hiding they are less likely to be.
If Lucio hides vs if Mercy hides.
Lucio:
- Team is winning fight/Sombra dies.
- Lucio goes in and joins the fray. Ult not needed.
- Teammates start dying
- "Oh, damn, gotta get outta here and reset
Mercy:

- Mercy goes in and joins the fray. Ult probably not needed.

Lucio is hiding specifically to avoid a hard counter. Under certain conditions, Lucio can go in and doesn’t need to hide. Mercy needed to hide to function and benefited by not being there to help her team, while Lucio is punished for it.
Because it only applies to one or very few interactions. Mercy was like at the end of every fight (if the mercy player was good at beam management and is able to get ult every fight) would just wait for everyone to die, regardless of the enemy ults.
What lucio does is ok because it requires the lucio to think when to hide, and then go and hide, then beat if the fight is winnable with it.
But Mercy hides in EVERY situation to get value EVERY time.
how desperate can the revert crowd get at this point?
Is your life so empty that you have to spend your days crying for a revert that’s clearly not going to happen and getting so passionate about it that you have to search among hours of content for the faintest counter-argument?
