Experimental Mode – Moving the Meta with Hero Updates

So you guys want to fix double shield meta but didn’t even gave Symmetra her old orb that went through barriers, interesting.

Sometimes I do believe you guys just hate Sigma and Orisa rather than give players tools to deal with shields in the first place.

How about if they make it move slower when in range like Moiras orbs does.

Shorter effective range, but gets to the enemy faster and easier to aim.

That’s how it was for the general playerbase during double shield. While the top tiers had double shield. The top tanks for the rest of ladder were Reinhardt and Orisa. But they were rarely used together and constantly paired with their offtanks. Which meant both DeathBall and Bunker tanks were constantly in play, with only dive tanks needing help. Shield/Anchor Tanks use their shield protect their team, INCLUDING the off tank, when the shields got nerfed, the offtanks became liabilities (Free ult charge!) and you’re better off getting two shields.

So I played around the new change and I don’t even know where to start.

While I do understand that changes did need to be made these changes are a little too much.

Orisa’s Halt is barely even there. Changing it to something like 5.5 meters would have been fine and lowering the speed to let enemies react to it faster would also be fine. Her health is a little to low now. Orisa already has a larger hit box compared to Sigma and Zarya so even if the 50 health was white health that would be so much better. The Hog changes also hit Orisa hard since if he hooks you, you’re gone. It doesn’t make sense to me that you would nerf a comp into the ground and at the same time buff a character to be a counter to it at the same time.

For Brig, I think that she should be more of an Off-healer with high survivability. Keeping her health the same but nerfing the inspire to 100 healing total and keeping the half for Brig would lower her survivability and healing.

All other changes are fine. Maybe try buffing Sigma’s other attributes though.

GM wants sym trash more than they want Origma nerfed.

No, people said they have tested it, you deal the same amount of damage in the 2.5 seconds of this Barrage as you did in 2.5 seconds of the 3 second Barrage. So effectively it is a nerf, but a nerf that you will likely find yourself living more often from using.

Love the Zen buff

Orisa seems unnesscessary
Sigma and Brig are missing the point imo, their problem is that they are doing too many things at the same time.

So far as a tank player…

Orisa is trash. There is no reason to pick her ever in Card form. Many tanks (and others) have been saying the same thing for a long time… Nerf Halt and leave everything else alone. Now we see Nerfed Halt and all of her kit nerfed with it… its bad.

Give Orisa all her recent buffs back, undo a bunch of the nerfs and keep that nerfed Halt. If you get caught in that or comboed with it you deserve it. Can’t complain about skill shots like that.

Hog feels a bit odd. He feels amazing vs tanks but a bit OP vs everything else. Maybe fire rate back to like live but a tiny increase to spread? I am terrible with hog but on Card he seems almost too easy to skill small targets. Also a lot of weird hooks getting through so testing is harder since you get hooks you really shouldn’t be.

Hog is my least played tank over 3 accounts on PC and Ps4. Not a fan personally… if I had to choose between live or Card I would take Card all day even if he is a tiny bit OP because that is a heck of a lot better than trash ult battery for everyone but the top 1%.

Dva needs serious help. More hog makes her life even worse.

Winston probably needs a little love but nothing huge I don’t think. Maybe some kind of bonus damage to shields/created items like turrets and Bap lamp?

Sigma Seems like he may be OK at the highest levels but at most ranks he will be seen as a throw pick.

If these went live I would say that for most ranks there will be serious flaming for anyone not playing Rein, Zarya or Hog with the Card changes. If you want more people playing tank this isn’t going to work out.

I am not disagreeing that it is a NET nerf, I was arguing that the speed itself is not a nerf. The radius is clearly a nerf and overrides the buff, but the speed increase itself IS a buff.

I honestly feel like a pick/ban system in overwatch’s highest levels would be better than this. I dont need anymore reasons to not play tank. I like playing tanks but the nerfs to them just keep coming with these patches. Blizz dont nerf 1/3 of your player base out of the game.

Or overrall just killing heroes effectiveness, again, and again, glad i stopped playing OW, because 0 of the balance changes or experimental card changes seen are just bogus or just are half-minded, let’s get rid of barriers so Snipers can headshot you with no exceptions!

And Brigitte’s changes will honestly cripple her without compensation, Inspire changes aren’t good enough, And i really don’t think the “Inspire isn’t cut in half for Brigitte” won’t help her at all because you guys also reduced her healing effectiveness in a game where it’s so hard to survive one shot.

For those that don’t know, Scrap gun used to have a 4 round clip that did 200 damage max and shot about 1 round per second.

So I get that this is an attempt to move Roadhog back closer to his earliest version. But still, ole’ Roadhog doesn’t really need more damage…

He needs more ways to add value to his teammates.

What ever happened to the 1-3-2 tank version of his powers? The gas-cloud-generating “take a breather” was probably one of the most fun tank powers in the game. There was nothing quite like jumping on a payload and turning it into a legit heal cart. Come ride the vape-mobile with tankhog!

I keep hoping that eventually they’re gonna find a way to work that into his 2-2-2 kit, but no such luck. The power was probably too strong to implement exactly the same, but the concept is great, you just gotta rework the actual numbers.

Or…a system where the meta heroes get taken out of a set array (a pool, as some might wish to name it) of heroes each week, based on pick and win rates, in order to promote more diverse compositions while also using these as a chance to work out why said heroes are problematic. Oh, wait…

Can we for once gut the dps characters with these changes, instead of tanks/heals?

So I am a Brig main, play on two accounts with plat and silver support, though I feel I belong probably in gold. between the accounts I have about 200+ hours on Brig with a 65%~ win rate. My experience on the hero out of the way Ill get to what I felt.

I wont just blast the Devs for nerfing brig again I understand why the last nerf didn’t really make me feel less powerful which is what the goal was at higher level of play. So in my books they nailed that goal cause I definitely felt squishy. I can handel this change and think it was needed.

However, What I didn’t like is I felt her over all healing potential was hit a bit drastically. I do feel we wanna make the game faster so I get why this was changed, nerf moira too plox thx I hate seeing coalescence in silver every min from dps moiras.

That being said Devs this is what I ask for, give me more ability to make tide changing skill plays by giving me a 1 sec cooldown reduction on my sheild bash. Help me prevent more damage, if I wont be able to heal it, this is the hero that I resonate with and get the most value with so while it pains me to see her nerfed I get why just give me a touch more solo carry potential for my lower level games.

PS Hog is very brutal, one shot kills from him kinda sucks and doesn’t feel good to play against. shield bash cooldown I suggested might allow me to survive this just a bit more.

Its not like they increased the hook hitbox. The change just makes Hog better outside of that combo.

Brig might still be okay in higher ranks after this patch, she will be a hot steaming pile of garbage in lower ranks.

I am always against blizzard picking the meta via auto bans. True esports let the teams/players pick. It brings out their creativity

it won’t last long in higher ranks with how she keeps getting nerfed because of those bloody nerds in masters or higher whinging about brigitte being too strong

So I noticed some comps where really bad. A lot of Brig +Zen, Mercy + Zen, and Mercy + Brig. I stopped playing tanks and tried out heals. Making sure there was always an Ana or Bap in the game as needed.

From my tank Pov + support pov I feel…

Rein needs his Shatter back. Zarya needs a charge decay nerf(small). Ball should be ok. Winston needs some love(small).

Hog feels ok but the fire rate seems kind of off but that may just take some adjusting. He can feel kind of OP but as soon as someone counters him… like ana it keeps him in check. This version of him makes him a threat that must be countered in some way.

Dva needs a lot of help. She isn’t good against Zarya, Hog or Sigma.

Sigma feels really bad. Without another shield tank his shield is too weak. One thing from his kit needs to be removed or nerfed HARD. Then revert most of the nerfs he has gotten lately. He is getting loads of nerfs all over his kit which is just going to make him exactly like Brig… busted or useless.

Orisa is bad… really bad… omg bad. I didn’t like playing her before and with those changes I would never play her. Halt went from being broken to a high skill no reward shot. On top of that you get deleted if anyone looks your way.

Also of note the way the EC is right now Rein sucks to play. If the other team has a hog you must have far more support than live. I have gone really long stretches with almost no ult charge because I can’t put my shield down.

If these changes go live as is every game is going to be Rein + Zarya/Sigma or Rein + Hog with a little Ball + Winston/Hog.
