Experimental Hog feels clunky, and Sig/Orisa reworks are in need

I used to play a lot of Hog, and still pick him up ever so often. However, it doesn’t take a Hog player to see what he needs.

He is not that useful to his team. He has no ability or utility that makes him a desired teammate.
What these changes do is make the most annoying/frustrating part of his kit more consistent while making him feel overall worse to play. That firerate feels awful, and -1 ammo isn’t good either.

The 1/3/2 patch a while ago did have the right idea with giving his breather ally utility. They should buff him in that direction and leave the base untouched.

About Sig/Orisa: Shifting numbers around till they are too weak to be played is a terrible balancing idea. Just rework them. This time properly. You can’t really run orisa as solo shields, and you can especially not run sigma as solo shields.
You never should have since he’s been an offtank, but the initial introduction of Sigma tells me Blizz’s intentions were to make him MT, which further proves they got no idea what mt and ot are.

Tl,DR: Give hog teamwork utility, rework Orisa and Sig.

i really wish they gave us the fart cloud i think that would have made him much more useful but i’ll take any buffs at this point

I don’t know about these being “buffs.” Extra damage is nice but it won’t fix any of his real issues.
The firerate and ammo nerf means you’ll have about the same overall dmg per match, just more bursty.

offense is the best defense
his utility is killing the enemy before they kill ur team, you just have to get good
he can mitigate a lot of damage using his cooldowns as well

reworks won’t happen until overwatch 2

I don’t like the “just” in that sentence. They put effort and design into the hero. You know stuff isn’t instantly coded just cause you can imagine it like that. Reworking should only be used as last option for gamebreaking stuff like mas rez, not for or this hero is hard to adjust - rework him. Reworks are also bad for the community since you lose some ablity or playstyle you loved forever.

Both of them being meta for a year+ while both have received nerfs indicates that the core designs are inherently screwed.

There’s a reason they are so good when used together, and that natural synergy won’t change. Nerf numbers in stats, you’ll still have the kits that do synergize well. Nerf them enough so double shield won’t be meta, and suddenly Orisa and Sig won’t be usable without each other at all.

I’m pretty sure they scream for a rework.

I agree with you 100% this is not the right way. They nerft this one shot Hog a long time ago for a really good reason.
I play a lot of Hog and this changes are not healthy for Hog and the whole game.

The halt changes need to happen to lower her power level while raising her skillfloor, idk about the armor health revert tho

I also agree with the OP. I said it before. I’ll say it again on Sigma and Orisa.

Double shield is not the problem. Those 2 tanks should be buffed back. It’s the damage. Once they nerf it down, then you can run different tank comps.

But blizzard wont touch it

Easy fix for Sigma and Orisa:
Reverse their shield up to 900 and 1500. original cd as well.
If two main tanks are deployed, nerf their shield by 60%.

For me new Hog feels amazing against tanks now

It feels weird, yeah, but for anyone who has played old Hog, its similar

Yeah halt needs nerfing it’s a mini grav on cooldown.
She always had 400 hp so I don’t mind the revert, but she should have more than a cardboard shield.

If they are buffed back without reworks it’s gonna be hell all over again. If damage is nerfed those shields will never be broken.

Not a bad idea. I thought to limit 1 shieldtank per team and rework them into rein tier shieldtanks each. Idk though, i’m not a gamedev.

Hog feels good to play, or shields are just kinda garbage now. One or the other.
