I really like the fact that Rein and D.VA are finally getting a buff. For D.VA I’d change nothing, however for Rein I think they should focus more on his health rather than his damage. What I suggest is giving him 600 HP (so a 100 HP buff) but therefore make his hammer do 80 instead of 85 damage per swing. I think that this would be the better approach because with 85 damage per swing, Rein could kill a 250-HP-target (like Reaper) in 3 swings. This would mean that the extra 50 HP would make no difference for e.g. a reaper, as now Rein could just kill all damage heroes (except Bastion) in just 3 swings. However if you gave him only 80 damage instead of 85, he could do 240 damage in 3 swings, making enough space for the enemy dps to either use cooldowns and make space or die. McCree and Widow along with all other 200 HP targets would all need 3 swings to die, whereas Reaper, Doom, Mei and Torb would need 4. This would make him more viable without making him a must pick or OP. Give him 600 HP and 80 hammer damage per swing and I think the hero will return really well.

What are the break points of new Rein hammer?

I should really sit down and work it out.

Basically all 200-250 HP heroes die in 3 swings, regardless if it’s a Widow with 175 or a Mei with 250 HP

Oh…

85 because Mei / Reaper. Ok that makes sense.

I was wondering “why 85?”

It means they don’t need to firestrike for Mei / Reaper.

Yeah but I feel 80 would be enough if they gave him 600 total HP. This just makes the extra health of 250-HP-heroes useless in a 1v1 D:

255 damage with 3 swings but he still won’t kill reaper because of lifesteal and doom because of shields. He will 3 shot torb without overloaded.

He can survive something like a widow and hanzo both headshotting him during a firestrike.

I think he should have 600 HP and 80 hammer dmg per swing, but thats just my opinion

The 85 damage could negate a bit more of baptiste’s aoe healing against a bunker comp. They both have a .9 s firerate.

For Reaper it depends on bubbles or D’va or Sigma or whatever. Like, if Reaper is getting to ACTUALLY get lifesteal in the first bit of the fight, someone fell asleep, or that Reaper is sneaky as hell

Yeah, firestrike is the usual way of dealing with Mei. swing + swing canceled into firestrike is how you know you have a Rein wise to the ways of Mei.

It is the signal that “this one you have to be careful of” - at least in mid ranks.
So, what happens if Mercy is boosting? How does this change it up?

It brings 200 health heroes into the 2 swing range. Ouch. That has GOT to hurt.

Also swing + strike does really change.

Mercy for SURE should be boosting Rein if he has closed.

True, yet Bap does 60 healing per shot so the rein would still get more value even with only 80 damage per swing i think (:

most importantly 3 hits against 250
and if damage boosted 2 swings can kill 200hp

Nano Rein would become OP I feel

Yeah.

Damn, that HAS to be a tempting boost target. Dangerous though. Rein’s are not known for being near cover when they are out swinging.

Nothing changes there then. Seriously. Nanoed Reins are a win condition most of the time if he can get in swing range anyway.

So, Lucio / Mercy? or Lucio / Ana you all think?

One thing though is a solid rein comp practically requires lucio. I’m not sure how well lucio/mercy would work.

I was thinking the Boost to get over 100 damage per swing is pretty damn fine.
Like, I’d be seriously thinking about it.

ESPECIALLY because they didn’t change the ult charge for shatter. Boosted Reins would be made of ult charge.

I think Brig will die for sure. I think Zen would be really strong tho - harmony on your own rein and discord on the enemy rein - OUCH

Who would Brig into that? But, Brigging WITH that, would be tempting if Mercy didn’t pass so many break points.

Zen would be good for the same reasons as Mercy would be good.
If the enemy is clumped up, or if shields were in play… Boost would win. If they spread out, then Zen for sure.

Interesting times. I don’t know what the support meta will fall to.

I think Mercy may even die because she doesnt work the best with brawl. Like her healing will not be enough to keep a rein alive in a rein 1v1 if the enemy has a main healer like Moira, Bap or Ana

Yeah. Damn this is going to be so interesting.

But like, Brawl comp for sure. It is just the details of it which I can’t nail down.
