I haven’t played overwatch in a while, but i came back to it for the archive update. I was playing it every day with no issue, until i came on today and found that there was an update. When i went in everything was super quiet, i’ve tried everything to fix it (checked the mixxer thing down at the audio, set headphone volume to max, set ingame volume to max, both at same time.) but nothing works. I can still slightly hear everything, but its so quiet there is no way im gonna be able to play. Any help? P.S. everything isnt quiet when the headphones are unplugged, but when i switch headphones its still quiet. Sad that i live with someone who doesnt want to hear the game out loud.

Please check your windows mixer volume settings before blaming the game mixer. Also consider checking the windows communications tab and temporarily disable lowering volume 80%, as it sometimes glitches with Skype.
the mixer im talking about IS the windows mixxer. Just wanted to clear that up

Sounds like either a sound driver bug or a backend bug, you can try changing to a different audio backend
Start OW, change the MASTER VOLUME to 50
The close OW and open Settings_v0.ini in notepad (Documents\Overwatch\Settings)
Look for [Sound.3]
MasterVolume = “50.000000”
After that line add
PreferXAudio2 = “0”
0 = WASAPI
1 = xaudio
2 = DirectSound
Try 0 or 2

My problem gone after uninstall Asus sonic studio app from my laptop lol
I’ve had this same exact issue for nearly a year… I just resorted to always using headphones when I played (mine got quiet when using normal speakers). But I just refreshed my computer (re-installed windows) and it worked fine for the first time I launched the game… now, the second time, its BACK to being insanely quiet…
People need to stop saying “you needa change this setting in a notepad” because that doesn’t work. nor does several of the other fixes…
What NEEDS to happen, is for Blizzard to get off their asses, and FIX THIS BUG… Its been around for YEARS at this point, and its STILL happening? Seriously??

I’ve tried all the “fixes” on the forums. At this point it seems it’s a blizzard problem that isn’t intended to be fixed. Enough people probably aren’t complaining about it.
