thats probably how jeff fells right now
poor jeff
I wouldnt be suprised if this was the case but we dont know exactly whats going on
as far as i can tell there was no planning, he left abruptly which probably means something went really wrong and he cant fix it
Why do you say he left abruptly?
his message is really short and seems rushed and they never said anything beforehand
he might not have put anything together, and then was told he needed to.
And do companies usually say ahead of time that someone is leaving? And if they do, why would they need to tell us?
I mean don’t you find it weird how the game director is leaving in the middle of development of overwatch 2?
Something Jeff can’t fix?
Idk man, that’s a pretty hot take.
Not really?
If he wanted to leave, why would he stick around for who knows how long?
jeff can only do things activistion lets him do/ makes him do
aka they could have told him to lock all the heroes for players who bought overwatch 2 or behind a battlepass
Ok. Dude. It was a joke.
oh
well i guess i fell for it
Interviews from this year seemed to suggest overwatch 1 and 2 had plans and he was teasing them like he was going to be the one to announce them. He even said they were thinking of cool stuff to announce in march or april… no way was jeff leaving a part of that
Some companies like to pretend that everything is okay. They don’t want to incite panic.
Heck, when I found out my first co-teacher wanted me removed from Student Teaching, she acted like I would still be going in to teach my lesson that day.
hold on let me get the popcorn,
what happened
Which is exactly why everything seems to be extremely rushed.
This definitely was not a long planned handover to Aaron Keller.
If you remember Blizzcon Jeff seemed to be extremely relieved that he finally could tell the public Overwatch 2 is not coming this year and the same time extremely excited to share news regarding OW(2) very soon, and I am pretty sure he did not mean he will leave shortly after that.
If this would have been planned, his role in Blizcon would have been much smaller, actually Blizzcon would have been ideal to announce his retreat from Blizzard and hand over to Aaron in public.
And if he had planned to leave Blizzard for a long time in friendship I am 100% sure he would have made a last developer update, and announced his leaving to the players, with him basically being the public face of Overwatch.
Also if you read his last note “between the lines”. First of all it is extremely short, does not seem to be prepared at all. And then it is interesting who he thanks, but more important who he does not, and also the wording.
i want to express my deep appreciation to everyone at blizzard who supported our games, our game teams and our players.
He thanks everyone at blizzard who supported their games, sounds like he thinks not everyone at Blizzard is supporting their games.
He also thanks the players, their game teams and developers, and that´s it.
He not only was the public face of Overwatch, he also was vice president of Blizzard, so you should expect that he had to work quite a bit with the President as well. Not explicitly thanking the colleagues you should have had working very closely with is quite telling.
Also with no words he thanks his former employer to give him the opportunity to achieve what he has achieved, something you should expect if this was a planned leaving.
With this last message I can only think of 2 possibilities.
Either Jeff has some serious private issues, which means he can not fulfill his position in the company anymore, or there were some serious internal problems with Blizzard and he rather left.
All the community does is whine. I feel bad for him because the game isn’t even bad. Could be better, but definitely not torture like more ppl say it is. I feel super bad that I probably contributed to it…
Honestly the way junk is saying it is happy. And I don’t think thinking of It either way he’s actually trying to enjoy his time off because he’s worked a lot for the past 20 years and past 5 on ow working his butt off giving us new content regularly so everyone cool ur jets and jump out the screw Jeff plane
No, not really. Looks like a retirement to me
Not the most exciting…
My mom has lots of teacher friends. And when they heard who I was being placed with, they all groaned. Who I was placed with was very anal about things, and wanted everything done exactly like she did it. And if it’s your first time doing things, you’re not going to be able to do it as quickly as someone who has been there for 20+ years. But she was also really anal about being exactly on time.
So I would have to cut some activities a little short, because it was either get yelled at for being late or get yelled at for cutting the activity short. (Apparently I was supposed to tell her ahead of time when I was going to do this.) And then it was just a bunch of other small things - the kids weren’t totally quiet in the hallway, I let students go to the bathroom when they asked, the lesson went a little over… things like that.
So I was getting ready to teach a lesson, but found out I had to meet with my academic advisors, and I texted her asking if it would be okay if we moved the lesson back. She said it was, and she would see me when I got back to class. Little did I know that she told my academic advisors that she thought I “wasn’t suited to be a teacher, and should re-think my career” SO she knew the entire time I wouldn’t be coming back, but acted like I would be.
Ugh.
But my dad is friends with the dean, and he said that shouldn’t have happened. So I was able to be re-placed in the Spring, and got placed with a good teacher. (And even though I didn’t pass edTPA, I still graduated because I think the advisors were scared they would get fired because I kept bringing it up to the dean
(edTPA is basically a test that 13 states have that you have to pass in order to become a teacher. My state doesn’t require it, but my college did.)
