Every new hero save Ana has been a flop

  • Sombra is an incredibly negative (in the sense she takes away, abilities and health packs) Hero to play against, that require next to no skill to land a hack on enemies. Once the hack is in, she is usually duelling a sitting duck, that can’t defend himself - not very skillful.

  • Doomfist insta-kills. Noone likes insta-kills, making this hero incredibly frustrating to play against, as you may at any point get snuffed out. Also his crowd controlling makes for frustrating gameplay for the enemy. Getting tossed around and having control taken away from you is design that should be used extremely sparingly.

  • Orisa added another barrier to a game, that was already full of barriers. Her barrier up-time is higher than Reinhardt’s, and her barriers are more reliable than his, as he has to toggle his off to attack (which is the only way he can earn ult charge). She has been the enabler of the biggest cheese comps in the game.

  • Moira is fairly fun to play with her high mobility and incredible power and survivability. She can duel anyone and come out victorious, even against dedicated killers, whose job it is to kill. Fair? No, a silly attempt at countering Tracer yet again, and again an attempt that failed, because she counters Tracer only to some degree, but other heroes much more. With her ridicilous range, she can shoot down even mid-range targets. Moira can just do everything. You can heal with her, flank with her, duel with her… whatever you like, she has it. She has no weaknesses at all.
Moira requires little mechanical skill, as she has an auto-lockon, which makes for quite a low skill ceiling.

  • Ana is the only truly skillful new hero in the game. A hero that is incredibly fun to play, although less so in her underpowered state, that struggles not only against dive, but also against shields (which Orisa turned much worse).

  • Brigitte? I have not played her yet, but from what I can read, she has a massive amount of crowd control, that will make it hard for immobile heroes. She will be especially hard on frontline heroes like poor Reinhardt, who really doesn’t deserve more adversity.
Brigitte is an attempt to counter the flankers Tracer and Genji, but she will also be strong against a number of other heroes. Both with her crowd control as well as with her added armor, that will throw the balance out of whack, not only for Tracer and Genji, but for all heroes: What you could reliably kill with before, you can’t now (f.ex. Soldier a few bullets and helix could kill alot of non-tanks)
Will Brigitte be the birth of ArmorWatch? It is too early to tell, but I believe she will add to the frustration of this game, both through her crowd control and her added armor to allies.
Brigitte is also, unlike Ana, not a high-skill hero, and I predict it will take little time to master her, making her unfun to play as a main.

What Overwatch needs beyond anything is high skill heroes like Ana, Tracer and Genji. These heroes are fun, because they are harder to master, and they will get people coming back for more.

Most of all, Overwatch needs alternatives to Tracer and Genji. The reason why especially Tracer is omnipresent at high levels of play, is that she brings something to the table that no other hero can: She can threaten the backline on her own, opening a new front single-handedly, which is incredibly powerful when teams have only 6 members.
Give us another flanker that can do this and that is equally fun to play, and you will see Tracer’s pick rate go lower.

The Problem is also that it feels like every new hero was implemented to counter Tracer/Genji and while they mostly do their job at countering them the new heros counter everyone else even more

So let me get this straight. What the game needs to become more fun is more super annoying flankers. Good one, mate.

Also if you don’t think Sombra requires an awful lot of skill to play well you have no clue what you are talking about.

Aside from Moira (And Brigette), I can honestly agree. Ana was near perfect when she came out, but nerfed into oblivion. Honestly, Triple tank would be fun again to see it try and counter dive with all the buffs dive heroes have gotten.

the devs should have put more time into balancing the old heros before bringing out new ones imo

I disagree with most what you said. Most Heroes who got added into the game had to be adjusted more often than not which is entirely normal. Fighting every single new Hero is not more aggrevating than trying to hit a Genji jumping over my head or dying to a scatter arrow. Every Hero added has clear strengths and weaknesses.

New stuff gets always looked at especially criticly so. I don’t have anything against any of the new heroes added so far. I love every single one of them, in fact, I think some of them need buffs.

Calling every new hero flop is like a pretty bold statement. Moira is super fun to play, so is Brigitte, Ana in her viable state was super fun to play too. Sombra was always fun to play and now she is even more fun to play. Not a single new hero ever felt oppressive to me except maybe Doomfist when he got released.

I’d even say that every hero was a success instead of a flop in the long run because people anticipate new heroes and changes and the servers even have queues while logging in when a new hero gets released.

The problem is, that there is more to it than just whether the hero is fun or not. The hero also has to be fun to play against. Being hunted down and killed by what is supposed to be a support is not very fun, if you play a DPS. Moira is dominating Deathmatch, which just proves my point. Moira is so ridicilously over the top and unfun to play against, that IMO she is a flop - no matter how fun she may be to play.
Who wants to play the most flatfooted and defenseless hero in the game (Ana) when you can have high mobility, incredible duelling ability and better healing, Ana’s supposed strength?

A hero must be evaluated not only on the hero itself, but on the impact it has on the game.

With the exception of Doomfist I have really enjoyed all of the new hero releases. And I heavily disagree that Ana is the only new hero released that takes skill.
Sombra does take skill to get her hack. She doesn’t need to aim it but she does need to time it right. When she’s hacking she’s not dealing damage and a single point of damage cancels her hack so it’s not like she gets to just “lol time to hold a button to hack and win” it takes forethought . Also, her taking away your abilities doesn’t feel any less fun to play against than Genji’s deflect.
Doomfist takes a ton of practice and skill to use effectively and learn his combos. He has to be in a dangerously close range to be effective.
Orisa was a good addition because we need more tank options. Especially main tanks. It’s really not that hard to deal with her shield and I don’t see why it’s a problem that she enables “cheese” comps. It adds more variety to play and enables use of heroes that are otherwise considered terrible.
Moira doesn’t have a lock on and her range really isn’t ridiculous. Her wesapon is easier to aim but f you don’t track your beam breaks contact. There is a reason that in game it tracks your secondary fire accuracy. She does low dps and can’t hurt you outside of 21 m (Roadhogs hook range) without usi her damage orb which more often than not just feeds enemy ult charge. She needs that range to be behind her team where she can heal and still recharge her healing resource.

I haven’t played much of Brigitte yet so I can’t really judge her but so far I think she’s fun.

Not all heroes have to be difficult to use and pick up and require a ton of skill to use. And aiming isn’t the only skill required. All of the new heroes released take a variety of skill levels and different sets of skills. They also all take time to master and learn even if some are much easier to pick up and play than others.

You are a Tracer main and you are whining about heroes being unfun to play against. There is a certain saying about pots and kettles that come to mind…

how is moira fun to play? i find her so absolute lame because she is so strong and doesnt give me any challange i can only play her when the game pisses me off so much that i dont want to play anymore in general but i still want to play with friends

You can’t balance off of Deathmatch though. She does well there because she does well in a 1v1. But overwatch by design is a team game. If your Moira is running off DPSing in an actual game then she’s hurting her team more than she’s helping and the enemy team can 100% take advantage of an enemy team with a DPS Moira because they are going to be lacking heals.

Not mentioning every other hero you’ve said, but if you’re good enough, Doomfists are easy to sleep off of you.

Maybe she’s not fun to you but she’s fun to a lot of people. The fun is in her resource management. Knowing when is a good time to heal and when is a good time to contribute some dps. She’s also fun to play because you can actually go toe to toe with those trying to flank you.

toe to toe more like absolutely decimating them

i will say with both brigette and moira they have both opened up new team comp possibility especially brigette and made the game feel much more dynamic

She is a SUPPORT. That dominates DEATHMATCH.
Do I really say more, when I say she can do it all and has no weaknesses? Do I really need to say more, when I say she is ridicilously overpowered, and unfun to play against and next to (see how she outshines Ana)?

This game is more than just about the heroes themselves, but also what they do to the game.

She doesn’t decimate good (or even decent) flankers. With her blinks and rewind Tracer can be very challenging to deal with. Genji is going to have a harder time but he still has a chance to win the engagement as long as he doesn’t do what half of the Genjis donwhich is engage Moira, pop deflect, and then start running backwards.
