Remember that game The Finals that everyone was hyping up on here a few months ago?
Don’t believe me type The Finals into the search and see. Now look on steam charts and that game is dead as a doornail.
The next flavor of the month “Overwatch killer” I’m able to even remember atm was pokemon with guns.
And there’s just so many games that were so forgetful I can’t even remember half of them. The funny thing is a lot of the supposed OW killers weren’t even FPS games. It’s like everytime a dude plays the new Mario Kart game on the Nintendo Switch they gotta make a thread about that game killing Overwatch next.
Now its some Marvel game that prolly will fizzle off faster than that garbage Gundam hero shooter nobody plays anymore.
There’s even people acting like Nyan Cats is gonna come out in 3 years and spank Overwatch (youtube search it if you want a good laugh).
Personally, I’d like people to just go ahead and keep hyping up these games cause everytime people do it just makes them look even more ridiculous every time since they’ve done cried wolf about the OW killer just around the corner about 5 thousand times now.
Eventually people are going to become desensitized to it where calling anything the “Overwatch killer” is going to become a meme just like calling some game the “COD killer” has been since 2018 or so.
I’m calling it an achievement more because Skyrim’s caves, whilst good, are also over a decade old and without mods lack a lot of atmosphere. I do actually like Skyrim caves quite a bit. I think we should be able to expect people to match them though nowadays with so many more examples to draw from of good exploration and good caves.
Okay fair enough. Back in 2011 skyrims caves were 10/10 for me. So many fun memories of sneak archering caves filled with bandits and falmer. But yeah 13 years later its dated.
Nodnod, innovative for the time, and impressive as hell, a good thing to experience. With time though far better examples have emerged though I’m admittedly too tired to think of em.
I don’t think I’ve seen any real OW killers.
The only people calling anything an OW killer is people on the forums. And you probably know what I’m talking about.
So you also know that same person is back a month later with another “OW killer”. That goes about the same way as the rest.
So not only are they wrong, they are still here.
Maybe one day they will find a good game, and they can finally move on to something like that. Probably won’t kill OW though, that’s more of an inside job these days
Kids will spend their parents money indiscriminately
I remember compiling a master list of Overwatch killers back in the day, some of the suggestions for the list were pretty hilarious and definitely worth a look over if you’re curious about the history of Overwatch Negative Nancies:
Also the reason many early ow competetors like gigantic battleborn law breakers died was due to their own issues from mismanagement, wrong pricing qqq implementation.
