Ever since the symmetra rework nothings been the same

Because now she is more overall viable across all rank levels according to blizzard. Low level people have their turrets and dmg balls to spam in chokes, while higher level players make great use of her beam weapon and smart uses of her teleporter/ult etc.

ACTHUALLY… the pros also spam her right click for days. The left click is strong but only in very specific situations (usually against tanks and after the fight has tilted in your favor). If you watch yesterdays contenders match where they used her on Anubis, almost all of the Sym players damage was right click.

It can be argued that since D.Va’s rework nothing has been the same, either. After her there was the Nerfcy Apocalypse and changes started rolling out every patch.

But we’re still here. We’ll adjust. I don’t think Symm is a complete character and I’m sure the Devs don’t either.

You may overestimate them. It’d be nice if they made any sort of comment about her, honestly. “We think she’s fine” or “We’re looking at tweaks” etc. It’s been dead air and it sucks.

Ye but u catch my drift… her kit has something for all rank tiers, wich was kinda the goal of the rework

apart from her beam which needs a better ramp up buff.
sym has too high of a CD on her abilities.

her TP placements and activation takes 1-2 sec too long and does not add mobility.
10 sec CD on 3 turrets is too long, even more so if a shorter CD of 5-8 sec could help a team fight and actually turn it.

It’s worth mentioning, though… if increasing the Beam’s damage potential was the goal, I think they failed. Yes, there are certain times when New Beam has a significantly better TTK (Time To Kill) than Old Beam. But Old Beam was pretty reliable at close range, and even though it had a longer TTK in general, Symmetra was much safer while using it (since she could dance better).

Plus, New Beam doesn’t even start being useful until L3 charge, which is hard to come by.

As much as I hate Sym’s new primary. It makes perfect sense to remove the lock on with the higher damage potential she has now. If she had her current kit with a lock on beam with her current primary’s damage output. It would be highly broken. Because then she could do what she did before by latching on and running in circles around you keeping you at slight LOS like before. Hence why Sym put Genji out of business because even when he dashed through her, it was still attached and she killed him without looking.

Charge it on a shield and go for a lock on slaughter, because when her beam is fully charged, it does do major damage. She’d be worse than Brig on a nano rally.

So it makes perfect sense to remove the lock-on for her current primary damage potential. Because the 2 sec ramp up, only while hitting enemies, wouldn’t matter because she’d lock on.

It’s not really all that hard to get good damage with new Sym. I played Sym in a few maps tonight and I think I had gold or silver damage every time.

Those aren’t lock on, they just have massive hit boxes. Winston’s in particular is a giant trapezoid. Ever since they got rid of Symmetra’s lock on beam there have been no more lock on abilities that can damage people.

Too bad I can’t believe that story since she’s still F tier.

Charge is on a shield and watch her crumble due to zero survival abilities. It’s there to help her out on encounters since she’s glass cannon just like Doom Fist’s damage shield.

Fear from the developers is what got it removed and look. She’s still F tier and a troll pick at higher ups to the point you can get suspended. So much for an potential rework. When is her next tweak on primary fire? Next year?

Quick play is fine for anything. Real test is competitive play and if you swap off early or forced by teammates means she’s nothing more than a F tier burden.

I haven’t had a chance to use her much in competitive. Last season, the only game I tried we absolutely dominated them and someone left within the first 30s and canceled the match. I did have a few Syms on enemy teams though, and one of them absolutely dominated us. The other one did ok, not great, we won.

I’ve been playing her in Competitive quite often.
Hey, guess what? 3.0’s kit allows Symmetra to play more with her team to assist them!

Remarkable isn’t it?
And hey! I end the match with Gold Damage and Gold Elims!
It’s almost like this Symm is somewhat Viable!

I’m not saying her rework was successful. All I’m saying is, it made sense to remove the lock on with her current beam. With her higher damage and even charging on shields while replenishing ammo on them, her lock-on would honestly be a nightmare. There’s always give and take when it comes to trying to balance things.

This wasn’t a standard damage buff, it charges and replenishes on shields. That’s 3 different buffs to a primary, make that as lock-on and it’s way too strong.

If I have to keep current Sym, just fix the ramp up on her beam so it will have use.

Where are you getting these people?
Because I get people that don’t communicate except to harass. I get people that intentionally refuse to bind their interact key. I get people that take TPs, then jump off ledges, and say ‘wtf troll TP report’.

You can’t coordinate with a team that won’t coordinate with you.

Then you go in alone.
Half the time, if the team won’t listen, I use teleport to flank behind them, teleporting all 3 turrets (150 DPS, just want to reinforce.)

It allows the Symm to kill any squishies in the backline with relative ease, whilst creating opportunities for your team.

That’s kinda tricky when you and your sole healer are getting dove, high ground isn’t being contested, you have gold damage somehow amongst a team of 4 DPS, etc. etc.
TP bombs are also pathetically easy to shut down if one is vigilant. They only time they really work is when opponents have their focus heavily invested in a chaotic dogfight and can’t be tasked with turning around, and for that to happen, they need to not steamroll fights by picking people off one at a time or through ult advantage.

And this all assumes you can make enough plays to actually turn fights.
Your team still has to be decent enough, communicate enough, and coordinate enough for Sym to pull cheese strats at all. Unless there’s some weird MM going on anyway.

Congratz. She’s still a troll pick to the majority and she certainly not out of the F tier hero slot. We’re not fooling around here that her kit is valid.

Be honest with yourself though. A well coordinated team can cut down a Symmetra because she provides zero survival abilities to herself. She can melt down shields alright, but at a cost of her life. You have to think about the scenarios and counters which is 95% of the roster.

Hardly. It would make her not to be as approachable than what she is.

She’ll still be at the same tier spot. Auto lock beam have a chance against Doom Fist. Current beam does not.

that can be attributed to the specific strategy they were using involving Bastion. It wasn’t that they didn’t use left-click because it was ‘bad’, it was that they needed to stay at range to let Bastion continuously reposition and pressure the enemy team into the tiny room on Anubis A. I think the Sym got picked off shortly after they decided to rotate to point, but it was hard to tell honestly.

I’m not arguing that it isn’t niche, I just want to be clear on why the Sym in that particular match was doing what they were doing. If you check out some high level Sym players streams (not stevoo) you’ll see that they use the uncharged beam to finish low health enemies after bursting most of their health with orbs. They’ll also build charge on a barrier before deciding to push an opponent. The left click is situational, but if used properly very powerful, and there’s honestly nothing wrong with that. A couple other characters have primary fires that aren’t used as much as other parts of their kit, such as Doomfist and Mei, and we all know how powerful those can be in the right hands.

You have to remember those comparisons you’ve mention also comes with CC in their kits. Symmetra have zero. Her kit is truly below average once again.
