When I played last night I thought the event was delayed, but judging by the threads here it’s just… not eventful?
Anyway we still get patch notes, right? I’ve read there were map changes, that normally warrants patch notes.
Did the patch note writer resign too?

There are minor visual changes to Midtown, not really patch note worthy.

I understand your take as someone who doesn’t read them, but I actually read the patch notes. Changes to maps much smaller than confetti are in there.
For example, this month:
Antarctic Peninsula
Removed a large misplaced shadow near the capture point in the Labs area
Obviously an event with map changes are more significant than a shadow.
The information can be found, just not in a patch note style. It would be redundant.
With all due respect, that’s nonsense. You could say that of any patch.
Busan
- Fixed a bug with the physics of the cow
Maybe they are avoiding political backlash or something. An event without any patch notes is pretty weird though.

I think calling it an event just made people’s expectations that it would be like all the other events.

You’re right, it completely changed how I play that map.
With an “event” we obviously would expect an arcade mode or something. The omission of patch notes for changes that obviously warrant patch notes, makes me wonder if they got cold feet and didn’t want Bud Light backlash or something but also had to deliver something.
There is an arcade mode tho?

No arcade mode that I’ve seen. Which other events don’t though? Winter Wonderland, Summer Games, Anniversary, Chinese New Year event… Halloween… Don’t they all have arcade modes?

There literally is an arcade mode, it’s called midtown, go look.
That’s just midtown map on repeat… its not a special arcade mode.

It’s pretty obvious they don’t want to be the next Bud Light. The developers probably wanted to push more things than just a few icons and name cards, but PR wasn’t taking the risk.
Americans can be pretty ruthless if they go boycott mode.

It’s been decorated in a special way. Idk what you expect, a mode where you can only play as the gay heroes?
What do i expect? literally any new mode whatsoever. Just off the top of my head right now, CTF mode in a custom sized midtown with pride flags. There.
It’s not hard.
But no, this is the worst “event” to ever be in Overwatch. Not even a title screen change. Nothing.
It’s disingenuous to even call this an “event”.
