I spent the weekend grinding the Hacks and Hijinx event to earn the title Hackerman. I don’t always participate in these events, but I thought Hackerman was an amusing title and I had the time to dedicate.
However, this event was made all the more frustrating as it was clear that people were doing the same thing. The part of these challenges that took the longest was the “Complete 10 games as Support / Tank / Damage”. 30 games across three roles isn’t a quick task and unlike some of the other challenges, this one did not have a win modifier - where a win counts for double progression. .
In my opinion, these 10 game challenges should have a bonus win modifier. I say this, because in many of the games I played, I saw players behaving in anti social ways. It was clear people were just wanting to clear this as quickly as possible and playing for a loss was the quickest way to progress.
Across the multiple games there were:
People afking in spawn.
People memeing and being ‘friendly’ with the other team.
People playing a class they needed for the 10 games resultiing in team compositions that simply weren’t viable.
People playing support as DPS and not healing.
Now I’m not saying that adding a bonus win requirement would completely remove all of these things happening, but it would at least add an incentive for people to try and win. Being able to knock off that 10 game requirement in 5 wins would have been great. It should be considered for these types of events moving forward.
