Even with Role Queue

The remarkably resourceful playerbase is gonna figure out new and frustrating ways to make awful choices.

Roadhog and Hammond on point defense maps…Ana and Mercy combos…Widow/Bastion Combos…

I cant wait

Nevermind “I waited 30 minutes to play Genji, and I’m gonna continue to play Genji into Pharah and Winston.”

Isn’t a refusal to work with your team considered gameplay sabotage?

I mean yeah, there’s no way to ensure every game has a perfect team comp without making queues take hours.

The only solution is to make a group yourself, either with LFG or with friends/discord people.

Roadhog and Hammond duos are going to be fun.:joy:

I don’t think so. Gameplay sabotage would be more like walking into the enemy and just blatantly feeding. If you play Roadhog and Hammond instead of a shield tank, that’s not a reportable offense.

And this is why I keep saying 2Unlocked-2Tank-2Heal is better.

It allows you to compensate for people who are performing poorly in their role.

Those 2Unlocked heroes can pick any hero, including a Rein/Orisa, or an extra healer.

There is no perfect solution. Role queue or any other fix will have drawbacks. But role queue also would bring some positives. I personally think that the benefits outweight the disadvantages provided you can solve the queue length issue. 30 minutes to play DPS is too long, but if that can be addressed then it would be a good solution.

You dont need to go that far. Just pick Widowmaker when actually the map is very small and hard to shoot anything.

It doesn’t for Tanks where Role Lock is little short of a Hero lock.

No, I don’t mean just choosing what they want to play is gameplay sabotage.

I mean when despite it not working and them dying over and over and getting little out of it, not refusing to switch. That’s when it starts crossing the line to me.

At least that’s how I see it, they’re willingly dragging their team down out of selfish intentions.

Yeah, I definitely empathize with that. I’m sure we’ve all had plenty of games that were lost because one person wouldn’t make they key switch the team needed (hell, I’m a pretty stubborn Zen main so I’ve done it myself).

I still don’t think this qualifies as a reportable offense, though. Just because someone isn’t playing optimally doesn’t mean they’re actively trying to lose.

It’s a gray area.

Except when it’s the DPS. I do think 2 flex-2-2 is the best option in LFG at the moment, except that I don’t love being locked in a role as tank or support, and there are times where it’s annoying/not optimal not to be able to switch, even temporarily (eg switch from Zarya to Lucio to get to point in Overtime).

Holy poo, this is 100% bound to happen. Ugh-- I think I’m going to hate OW in the near future.

Why not pick Hammond or Dva instead of Lucio?

Better having roadhog hammond as 2 tanks than 5 instalock dps heroes.

Obviously role que won’t solve all the problems. But it solves a significant amount of it. Significant enough to make a difference. A positive difference.

This is why I think 2Flex-2-2 and 6Flex should be run in parallel.

6Flex provides an easier outlet for those excessive amounts of DPS players.

Because 3 years of flexing have made them more confident playing Lucio?

fair point, probably picked that example too fast off the top of my head (although with 2 flex -2-2, they technically could already both be taken). Regardless, there have been times in LFG where I as a support, might have been a better or more willing Rein than either of our tanks, and even if we were willing to swap roles we can’t.
