Is there a particular thing that’s going to allow them to do this and not affect say Disneylands in park currencies?
I did not watch the video , might later but wondering if there’s a section in there about it?

They start d with some game called horse girl but may as well enforce it all around, i think it will affect most digital platforms as long as it’s targeted to non adults.

I mean I can only hope, but going from one game to all games to all funnymunny is … BIG.

The “solution” many games applied to Belgium is not desired but will probably be tested by AAA companies. I hope they dont let them get away with it.

Cause horse girl pretty much has 3/4 th of overwatch’s bad monetization from coin bundles, fomo, many currency etc

OK finally watched it. So not necessarily the EXISTENCE of special currency but it’s use, purchase and the sale of digital items using psychological BS instead of quality to sell.

It would require being able to buy JUST the thing, not use FOMO tactics to sell, AND have refund/return options available, primarily on games that target children which would encompass ANYTHING that didn’t specifically state adults only.

So… crossed fingers.

I watched this a couple of weeks ago if I’m not mistaken (or he made another video on topic)….and if I remember correctly it wasn’t elimination of premium currency….it was curtailing the lack of transparency with the currencies…he was, for example, talking about having to display to equivalent real money value whenever premium currencies are involved

So I don’t think that title is accurate

It will not. Best case they have to change the bundle prices or amounts and write “19 dollars” behind skins that cost 1900 coins. Its mainly about clarity what people spend money on. Main target are NOT games like OW. They can very easy fix it and are at the same place they are now.

Could also shift from 2300 bundles to 23$ bundles and no more prem coins in BP. Who knows.

I mean, OW still can suffer a lot because of it. The reason why the Loot Boxes got a change in OW1 was because the stupidity EA did with Battlefront 2 and OW happened to be the “mascot” of loot boxes at the time.

It’s as accurate as current monetization practices in sure it will cut down 10 diffrent currencies for one game.

The biggest changes would be removal of bad coin bundles that require you to spend more than required to purchase things.

That one thing is huge andake whatever you will of removing fomo.

If these aren’t big enough changes …

It is still a first step.

Seems like there’s only one reasonable way for Blizzard to preserve the current system.

that means they would have to give money away on the battle pass… i dont think that will happen.

i think as part of any in-game MTX, rigging ™ should be made fully transparent with auditable, verifiable code/algs. or, they’ll have to label their product as such, just like cigs: “warning: contents fake and u are buying into a scam”.

This kind of thing would be great for gamers.
