EU Server Issues?

mostly posting to ask if anyone else is having this issue.

for some reason, after about an hour of playing the game, I start having wild ping issues. my norm is about 30-40. today, it hit 1500 for the first time in like 3 years and then promptly disconnected me from my qp match which I was then punished for (HoTS have a better system for dealing with leavers js). the next three attempts to play anything from qp to custom then resulted in jumps from 30ms to 300-500ms and the last game disconnected me again, resulting in a 7 minute suspension that I decided to use as an opportunity to write this.

I check my internet, it’s fine. I try using Discord to send a message, it’s fine. I ask someone else who’s playing on the same connection, it’s fine. it happens whether that other person plays or not and has been happening for over a week. I assumed it was my end, but when nothing can find the issue and Windows says there’s no issue to begin with, I start to think that maybe the EU servers are just perma borked.

before anyone asks, here’s the things I have tried;

  • Windows troubleshooter,
  • restarting the router,
  • restarting the machine,
  • disconnecting and reconnecting,
  • the troubleshooter again,
  • another disconnect and reconnect because I’m already kicked from the game so I may as well use the suspension time to do something,
  • uninstalling Overwatch 2 and reinstalling (fixed nothing),
  • scan and repair at least once.

for fun, here’s things I’ve tried when it looked like it was related to DNS server issues;

  • changing DNS IPv4 and IPv6 to Cloudflare and Google public DNS servers (one at a time),
  • uninstalling the wireless driver completely and letting it reinstall,
  • using command prompt to look for corruptions (no corruptions!),
  • using command prompt to flush the DNS server.

no, none of it worked. not a single thing. I am currently trying just using the US servers because maybe the US servers are better maintained by a US company?

edit: i’ve realised this probably belongs in technical support, not bug report. my bad.

has been happening to me I’m from eu too, England to be specific. it’s fine on any other game just overwatch so think it is a problem no idea if it’s just eu or all servers. it’s not as bad as what it was though I’ve noticed but it’s still bad at times I agree

oh! I’m also in England. that’s interesting.

today’s was definitely the worst it’s been in a long while, though it did also happen on US servers (admittedly less, but getting disconnected entirely from Overwatch while the troubleshooter declares there’s 0 issues is… tilting).

it’s making me wonder if maybe it’s connected to the crashing issue that was happening when OW2 launched. maybe the line of code that fixed that might fix this…

I’m sure they’ll be working hard to fix it, at least we know it’s not just us

Yes, this issue has been going on for weeks,

first its the Asian players/US, it seems that now the issues is on eu servers too

Ive had this issue sense s12 majority of eu servers are constantly red for me all the time i only get a random 3 days here and there were the serveds stay orange for almost an hour than going back to red again never had this problem when paris server exsisted and they took down 2 servers last month to “fix them” i have better ping in American servers than eu :cry:
