This problem makes the game unplayable : tagging for ranked games regardless of the role keeps getting me korean games. I am form EU so I have 400 ping on them. Is there a setting or a wway to get only low ping games ? or to stick to my local region (EU) ?
If there is no solution to this I will stop playing Overwatch.
If you are not connecting to EU servers when you live in the EU then there is a good chance your connection to them is being blocked for some reason. A WinMTR test may help, but make sure to use the provided IP address list to manually run a test to your appropriate EU datacenter for an accurate result.
WinMTR instructions:
- Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:
- US West - 24.105.30.129
- US Central - 24.105.62.129
- Brazil - 54.207.107.12
- Europe Netherlands - 185.60.114.159
- Europe France - 185.60.112.157
- Korea - 211.234.110.1
- Taiwan - 203.66.81.98
- Australia - 37.244.42.56
Same problem here. I’m in the UK for the moment. Connected to 5.42.189.227 as I type this. Around 150 ms ping average up to … infinity then to disconnection from the server.
here is your squiggly lines :

Well there is only twenty packets sent so the test result is a little inconclusive (at least 200 packets sent and received can ensure a more accurate test result). I do see a network hub closer to Blizzard end having significant latency spikes, but that might only be their firewalls blocking the typical spam traffic.
Thanks for your answer!
I agree with you, there is not enough data to make a valuable analysis
Today I’m connected to amsterdam with 33s ping, back to normal.
Thank you for the tip, I didn’t know about the ctrl + shift + n so I tested manually the location of ip addresses. I get Singapour, Dubai and Blizzard HQ in the us, I never get EU. It seems Blizard doesn’t understand where I am.
Also about the packet tracing, I hadn’t thought of that actually. This tool can only confirm the problem but not solve it unfortunately
