Update: If you’re in the UK and your ISP is Vodafone just like me then Blizzard Support has confirmed there is an issue and they are looking into it
Ever since I tried saving a Workshop game mode preset earlier today I have been experiencing frequent disconnects from the game for some reason. Sometimes I get disonnected from Overwatch about 30 seconds after I launch it and sometimes I can play for a good while before I am disconnected.
The in-game store also fails to load a lot.
I’ve tested other games such as World of Warcraft, Minecraft and the Euro Truck Simulator 2 multiplayer servers and I can play them all just fine without issue. This problem only started to happen right after I tried saving a custom game preset from the workshop server browser. It’s weird.
I’ve tried the following steps to try and fix this but none of them have worked:
Restarting my router
IP Release, Renewing, and Flushing DNS
Changing my DNS server to Cloudflare & Google instead of the default “Obtain DNS server address automatically”
Making sure drivers relating to the Ethernet are up to date (they are)
Uninstalling BNET & Overwatch, then reinstalling them.
Installing Overwatch on Steam instead
Making sure Windows 11 is up to date
I am using a Ethernet cable to connect to the internet and my ISP is Vodafone.
Finally here are my WinMTR results. There are 2 IPs for the EU servers so I did both of them.
First Overwatch IP is “185.60.112.157”:
im having the exc=act same issue but without the saving of workshop presets. its just not been complying, when it does load i cant see skins i can buy on my heroes page or anything regarding prices. i get into a game then after about 2 mins get kicked out to the login screen. now i cant play at all because i dont wanna get a disconnect temp ban. Every one of my freinds in americas and other servers are playing and im stuck in the login screen!
I just noticed that the Blizzard store website also takes a really long time to load. Do you get this problem too? Every other website including the Overwatch forums loads in super quick for me as usual.
The support page also takes a while to load for me.
Edit: The US version of the Blizzard store loads just fine, but the EU store takes forever to load.
I may have found a solution to this but it’s too early to tell right now. First exit Overwatch and log out of the BNET app, click the cogwheel next to the email bar and select the Americas region, then log back into the BNET app. Finally on the Overwatch page, click the world icon close to the blue Play button and choose the Americas region there as well.
After doing this I have noticed the in-game store loading in instantly, and I’m not getting disconnected after 30 seconds anymore.
Maybe I saved a custom game preset just as the EU servers started going downhill and it was simply a coincidence. Still need to do more testing though just to be absolutely sure that has fixed the issue.
So I did a little testing in some custom games. When I am in a custom game that’s being hosted on a EU server, I am seeing the packet loss network icon on the left on my screen pretty much all of the time, but when I connect to a custom server hosted in the USA, I do not see the packet loss icon at all.
Edit: More EU players are reporting similar issues on Reddit. Seems like the connection problems are more of a widespread issue and I’m not sure if Blizzard is aware of it just yet.
There is a blue post on this situation over on the EU WoW forums. Keeping an eye on that thread is your best chance to get the latest updates from Blizzard.
To quote the blue post:
Update: Things have improved on my end. The BNET launcher, the in-game shop and other Blizzard related web pages are all loading instantly now.
WoW players are reporting the same issues again as well. At least we know Blizzard/Vodafone are trying to make things stable for us though.
Edit: I can play again but I’ll probably stick to custom servers until I know for sure that it’s stable I don’t wanna be temp banned for being disconnected from too many games.
Edit 2: After playing for a long period of time, I think I can safely say for me personally that the connection issues are now resolved. Thanks Blizzard
I thought that before and got an 8 hour ban on main. I did play for about 2 hours on an alt with VPN to USA with no major issues but would like official confirmation of the situation being resolved before returning to regular play as I feel the jeopardy is too high.
