ESL Faceit has been hit with a massive layoff

I don’t know how much it will impact the freshly started Overwatch Esports thing but 15% is still a big number.

Hoping for everyone finding a new job as soon as possible.

That is a lot but eSports wasn’t doing too good anyway wasn’t it?

They’re trying to remake the Esports desperately but the gaming industry has been hit the hardest in the last few months. I don’t think that except for the bigger esport games like LoL, Valorant, Dota and CS any could survive.

I mean, call me a doomer or anything but we are seeing the fall of live service games and esports and those who were hired to maintain them are being fired worldwide.

Well can’t say I’m not mad no one. Really asked for more live . Service games people are tired of them so it’s no wonder they are failing

GaaS is not going anywhere, but E-sports are a model based on audience paying/coming to the events and gamers … are not the most extroverted or appropriate audience for such events.

Subscription games are the ones dying, they are converting to F2P and BP + cosmetics and updates to add content. That is definitely not falling. At all. In fact its rising.

Subscription games are evolving though. Companies rather do a subscription service through their entire library like Netflix, Microsoft and Ubisoft than in one game only like WoW or ESO.

The new league doesn’t have anything like tokens you can get for watching, so there goes 90% of the OWL viewership

Streaming is more stable and lucrative than eSports while being less stressful.

Why would people grind 10 hrs a day in a sweatshop environment, be less popular and make less money.

While also spoiling your health and have less job security.

All eSports orgs being done by big orgs have been predatory to say the least with little emphasis on players.

Not to mention most of them are really young adults sacrificing their college.

Not to mention the bar for eSports is too high, it’s not just enough if you are a great player, you have to be prodigy level and grind without drop in performance non stop
