I’m playing on PC and for a little over a day now I receive the message “Error Applying update - Unknown Error” whenever I attempt to join a game.
I have reinstalled Overwatch and Battlenet multiple times in an attempt to fix it.
I only get this alert when I have the game launched and join a game. Anyone have this problem and know of a solution?

Yeah I’m having the same issue actually. Playing on PC, try to join a game and it errors out while applying the update. Girlfriend lives in the same house on the same network, hers went through no problem. I’ve tried the same as you by uninstalling battlenet, overwatch, hell i even threw overwatch on a different SSD and no difference. Did what they suggest with the IP renew etc and still same result.
Most players who resolved this found that it was an issue with security apps. Either they needed to update or temporarily disable them to update the app. Every update counts as a new application to Windows/antivirus apps, so it is often blocked in an over-cautious effort to keep malware from being installed.
