I kept getting this error for the past 3 days, after successfuly launching my game, no matter what mode I entered, it kept saying “Applying update” then giving me that error in the title and sometimes crashing after too. Usually I tried the practice range. I tried everything I could find online and the forums, deleting the AppData folders, repairing the game and so on.
But FINALLY I was able to resolve it.. apparently it’s not a game issue, it’s some networking issue. If you connect via VPN (can use any free one), it applies the update successfuly, then you can play without VPN. I don’t know WHY the game is being so picky with my network as I don’t have any issue with it for anything else, but alas that worked and hopefully it could help someone else having this issue
