Option request for QuickPlay.
I want an option that I can mark so I can only be paired with players of my same MMR, (not the cosmetic, the hidden one)
And I don’t care how long the game takes to find me a match.
I can wait hours, and do so many things in the meantime while on queue, than wasting even more hours on trash games
In addition, I would like another option that I can mark to opt in, in most cases, for higher ranks.
This setting would only allow 1 player from each team to be paired outside the flat rank across the lobby; and of course, within certain boundaries.
Let’s call these options, True Wide, and True Narrow.
Basically due to Blizzard developers being too stupid to get it right after 8 years
This way players can actually improve their abilities by controlling the level of skill range they wish to have in their games
So two check boxes
True Wide:
All players can choose this option to indicate that the algorithm can create a game, allowing 1 player alone, for each team, to be bellow the skill range from the rest of the lobby.
Said player can be someone else, or themselves
True Narrow:
… that’s basically it
I could also add a third option as a Training mode, by allowing players to blacklist heroes from the roster, and if said blacklisted heroes also happen to be among the player’s peak performance, then the algorithm will know the player will only be allowed to select characters with under performing statistics on his profile
Option request for QuickPlay
Wish this could apply to Competitive but I’m having flashbacks from stupid blogs and devs comments on how mirroring the skill of players for specific roles would improve… something?
Anyways, something so obvious even two monkeys could have noticed after just a couple of games
But after 8 years we keep coming up with the most basic of rules, for solutions that for some mysterious reason we never see
Or just open/classic. That alone is already better balanced in terms of mmr and due the fast queue time would also have even more narrower matches.
Anything else as caveat of it, can be dealt easily with systems.
Oppressive meta? Weekly hero bans, if the same meta keeps emerging, nerf the overperforming meta, until it stops emerging or be in line with other formations.
True MMR? Folks on different roles have the same mmr due their knowledge is way more decisive than raw mechannical skill. So, in that regard is way more balanced to find a main anything on open/classic than actually someone off their main role playing other role. Due their gauge is based on their performance in the game not on that said role.
Faster matches = less unbalance.
More freedom and agency, meaning everybody having equal responsability of the outcome of the match, instead of finger pointing.
Overall, more dynamic and diverse matches.
LFG feature going back
Additional systems if necessary, like draft, map rotations and stuff like that.
I think the OP speaks about the all players not exclusively the role. On ow2 their matchmaking only guarantee that one player would be within your range, accepting other players having different ranges but them having their appropriate pair.
That’s how they improved a bit the queue time and that’s why some folks are playing against a wide range of folks.
They broadened both outside roles but within roles too. The recent change only contemplates to internally roles not between roles.
You can effectively have a diamond player in group with a platinum while both with a solo on gold by example. Paired with another group with silver and gold.
Their system enables that. Due the group is narrow:
Grouping Restrictions
All previous Competitive Grouping Restrictions have been removed.
All groups in Competitive Play are now classified as Narrow or Wide.
Players between Bronze and Diamond must be within five divisions of each other player in their group to be in a Narrow Group.
Players at Master must be within three divisions of each other player in their group to be in a Narrow Group.
Players at Grandmaster and Champion cannot be in Narrow groups, regardless of how close their ranks are. This restriction ensures that our highest-ranked plakyers have the highest quality Narrow matches.
Narrow Groups will always be matched against other Narrow Groups or solo players. If a group has both Wide and Narrow configurations of players, the Narrow configuration will always be prioritized.
Any group that does not meet the criteria is considered a Wide Group. Wide Groups of four players may not queue. This restriction exists so that solo players are never required to make a Wide match.
Wide Groups have increased queue times and reduced match quality because it’s more difficult to find another group of players with the same ranks in the same roles to match against.
The amount a player’s Rank Progress changes after each match is modified by the group’s width.
The wider the group is, the less their ranks will change when winning or losing.
The higher the rank of the highest-ranked player in a Wide Group, the less the ranks of all players in the group will change when winning or losing.
Players will now be informed if the configuration of roles they have selected would result in a Wide Group.
The Tier Legend has been updated, and a new banner has been added to explain the rules described above.
Due this being able to happen. They’re pretty much trying to go back the OG form but doing circles around it til queue times improve prior to it. They did the player - role metric prior, now they’re narrowing between groups, only having left the “between players on different roles” to reach what pretty much open has and what ow1 had.
Here’s the direction we’re taking moving forward
What we’re doing in Season 3
Based on community feedback, we’re implementing some updates to the matchmaker that try to place pairs of players with similar MMR on each role on either team. This means that opposing tanks should be more similarly matched than before and likewise for the other respective roles. The goal with this change is to make the average MMR between each role more evenly matched to each other instead of looking more broadly across the entire team to balance things out. This is a major change to the matchmaker, so we’ll be actively monitoring for any unintended side effects.
Oh yes, I recognize my ability and knowledge on the players turning where there is nothing? on Suravasa when walking to a new point
I’m not sure if you are a troll, an employee, or just bad at the game
Do you rather wait 8 mins for a serious game?
Or waste 5mins, with a notification poping all the time on your screen saying that if you don’t leave respawn, you will be removed from the game due to inactivity? While everyone on your team can’t even reach cart on Rialto; on first respawn
There is no deranking in Overwatch. Only the fantasy of wasting hours in doing so, for then finding the same enemies within the next couple of matches
And the algorithm always knows your MMR; even from QuickPlay.
No need to ever hit a single game on rank
Think of what plebs do on U2GM videos. They basically boost their hidden ranking from the very initial games played on a new account, before been able to queue in ranked
By the time they win those 50 matches, the system already knows what rank they are in
Its the very reason why so many are crying for this type of content, because “I hit GM with Tracer in 2 hours”
Some may argue they should hold this momo for hundreds of games in metal ranks for 21points the match. What true competitive esports are all about xD
lol
That’s what Blizzard tries to sell
Doesn’t matter if its ML7, Zbra or Yznsa. Its just a matter of time before top500s start poping up on the enemy team while on QuickPlay
The only real difference, is if they Solo queue, or have a Full Stack
If they Solo queue, they get paired with whatever is on the pool.
But if they have a Full Stack… forget it. Everyone is top500 on the enemy team
This happens to reduce times when searching for a game, and to avoid abuses on lobbies
… it is also a good time for queueing off roles or just stream Fortnite while waiting
But if you ask, then why is Jay3 in a full stack on QuickPlay when he could be shooting plebs while going solo?
Well, because streamers usually put together those stacks for content creation purposes.
And because no one gives three f about watching Pelican or Wanted shooting Plats xD
We can’t fool the game. All I asked for was an option to create mirrored horizontal lobbies, or, a variation where only 1 player is going to be allowed on each team, to have a different rank from the rest of the lobby
And yes, on the same role, and within a certain range of skill
Let’s say, 8 divisions
But still, we all know what is going to happen to BillyAimGod337RadiantValorantB00S when he crosses his path with the DPS 8 divisions above him
… but at least Billy is going to have a chance for quickly learning what to do and what don’t against higher rank opponents
In the meantime, this garbage… putting Masters with Silvers… needs to stop
It is a waste of time, for everyone
Doesn’t matter if I use the ping system, world markers, or I make the call outs on voice… before things happen.
Low elo players don’t have the knowledge, awareness, or mechanical skill, to react in time, and reject the threat
And I’m not saying all Silvers are evil xD
I’m saying that it is extremely frustrating for everyone, to have that level of experience in a game so intense as Overwatch
TL;DR
3 options
. True Wide
. True Narrow
. and if you didn’t check any box, then call it IDGF mode; which would be, sadly for everyone, the default mode xD
The blacklisted system actually requires a slight rework in the UI
You keep the same role options as they currently are, but within each role, you are given the additional option to select which heroes, you are going to ban, for yourself
So let’s say Sigma and Zarya are your best picks, but you suck at Hammond, and you want to learn in lobbies more according to your Hammond Gameplay; you simply blacklist Sigma and Zarya, disabling them from your hero selection screen once in the match
Your best pick, is always your peak performance skill rank for any role
You disable your best choices to indicate the algorithm, that yes, you will be working only with those heroes you are terrible with xD
I actually believe its the way around
At least for QuickPlay. Which could be affected by other variables such as the 50% win rate
this just sounds like competitive without it being called competitive, basically a third gamemode
they would never let this happen bc queue times would worsen
I know. I’m just saying I am willing to wait for better games
With the amazing benefit of actually enjoying those games, and specially knowing that I am not wasting that same amount of time on respawn, while match ends; because the matchmaking is an insult to intelligence
The times are the same.
No need to split population with different modes
The search would be using the same resources from the same pool
… competitive discriminates lobbies from players queueing on the same game mode
In fact imagine if you could do this and also vote to play the second round of a map in qp, or pull everyone into a private lobby straight from the end screen (like the stay as teammate button but including the enemy team as well), then if you have an enjoyable fair game you can stick with the same players
