I usually get roughly 200-300fps on my pc with no issues.
Now randomly with the april fools patch, game runs barely on 24fps at most, checked settings nothings changed, everything is the exact same.
Realized for some reason overwatch mirrored the game as my wallpaper, made wallpaper engine go crazy, but even after i closed both overwatch and wallpaper engine, still wont run better than 30fps. (also restarted my pc, so nothing lingered)
Checked my task manager and all the values are normal, only thing thats high is my Memory but even thats not even near 100%, all the others are around 20-40% max, with nothing exceptional when i play ow happening. Anyone else have this happen?
Edit: also, i shouldve probably added beforehand, but my wallpaper engine runs on 30fps, so anything that moves moves at 30fps, and as long as overwatch was mirrored on my wallpaper, the game worked at max 30fps. So im thinking it has something to do with that
Came looking for this post. I am also experiencing a drop in at least 50 fps or so since this update. Used to playing 144, and a lot of the times I drop to 90.
There had to have been something since they added in new voice lines, so they did add something to the game files
Otherwise as well, it could be something thats been in the game since however long and just hasnt manifested itself until some other patches have enabled it somewhere along the line,
that is if there wasnt anything added in the april fools “patch”
Those may have been in the game since the last patch since I haven’t seen any patch download happening and so those probably just got enabled.
If i have to guess, some incompatibility with the physics in the googly eyes seems most likely to be a reason assuming it is not some optimization issue.
Im willing to be it has something to do with some bigger thing, due to the thing i mentioned before, of the wallpaper engine thing. Never happened ever before with any game in the years ive had WP engine, but the very first game i had with this patch, it did it, i did figure out to fix it, now eventually, by disabling WP engine, restarting my pc, and force closing WP engine before i launched OW for the first time
Did you read the entire post or did your mind naturally blank at “wallpaper engine” and you started again?
“Ive had wallpaper engine for years” and its never done this before
“Overwatch mirrored itself on my wallpaper” which its never done either
“i usually get roughly 200-300 fps on my pc with no issues, still wont run better than 30 fps” and ive had wallpaper engine through the entire time ive had ow2, and most of the time i had ow1 as well.
I’ve noticed this too but can’t yet tell if it’s related to my system or the patch.
I can’t even describe what happens as lag as my frames never drop and my connection is solid, but the display will still stutter. It behaves like network lag, but as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with the network.
I didnt say it was wallpaper engine lagging overwatch, i said overwatch mirrored itself onto my wallpaper, (as in if i minimized my game, i saw the game still live and moving on my screen on my desktop)And that is the same time that caused it to lag exponentially.
so in this case it would be this specific overwatch patch causing something to lag in my pc that had an effect on wallpaper engine
Hard to think its something else than those two since those were the only 2 things involved in any singular way, and it went away disabling wallpaper engine
Sometimes “silly” things are true
also, i shouldve probably added beforehand, but my wallpaper engine runs on 30fps, so anything that moves moves at 30fps, and as long as overwatch was mirrored on my wallpaper, the game worked at max 30fps. I personally dont see what else could be involved in it
My fps drops eventually. Before april i didn’t have fps drops at all, but now it can eventually drop from 144 to 50 or lower. And what else is strange is that when i using shift on Reinhardt he literally teleporting a little backwards or forward (it wasn’t ping, the ping was 50-70, i remember that correctly), and in the same time my fps drops to 60-50
What worked for me and there hasnt been issues since (if you have it) is to enable full screen, disable wallpaper engine and restart your pc, other than that idk whats going on
the only connection ive had with the lag has just been the wallpaper thing
Most likely will eventually, just wanted to make sure its not just me so its something they can look into, if its only localized i wouldve had an easier chance fixing it myself
