I had an idea about endorsements this morning after playing a Pharah that continually targeted me on Volskya, second point. Of course it is annoying to get targeted all the time, and get killed over and over because the player is that good that he creams me from out of nowhere. I wanted to endorse him as a good opponent, but I could only do it for ‘Sportsmanship’. This got me thinking, it’s not very sporting to target and kill someone all the time, not very sporting at all, but it is exactly what a ‘Good Opponent’ would do. I would have liked to endorse him as a ‘Good Opponent’ (or something similar), over a ‘sportsmanship’ endorsement.
So what I propose is that Blizzard put in another one or two options added to the sportsmanship one to more define why you are endorsing the enemy player. What do you think? What options would you have if it was something that could happen?
I think it’s a waste of time and energy. Nobody cares about what the endorsement says. They just give em out because they want the benefits. I’ve never given one and I never will because I can’t be bothered.
yea good idea, yet blizzard never do these good ideas so…

Ok, that for you maybe, but I have seen an awful lot of people who are serious about their endorsement levels (I lost all mine when I was banned for 2 days - and I don’t really care about it). But I just thought it would be nice to be able to basically congratulate an enemy player for playing well in a different way than just in chat or by saying they are a good sportsman.
like the idea but endorsements unfortunately failed as a system.
really wanted it to work but no one really cares about it enough i feel.
when you get endorsements for shotcalling even though you didn’t lead or communicated a play, get a good teammate one for playing widow during a round and getting a single kill cause you suck as widow, sportsmanship for just being there…
It’s funny I guess, but when I play, I do talk a lot, I call out who has Ult, where the Widow is, turrets etc, and at the end of the game, I will usually get a ‘shot caller’ or two, and a ‘good teammate’. So I thought that everyone did it, I always return the favour. But I guess I don’t spend enough time on the forums or Facebook groups to know that the system has failed. I know you basically get nothing at all for the rating, but I though people cared that they were lvl 4 or lvl 1. I guess not.
That is failed is a personal feeling of mine. not an actual fact or anything.
In my experience people give it for no reason that i can think of is a good one.
i’ve joined games in backfill only to select my hero, take 2 steps and get the defeat screen. and suddenly 2 seconds later i get an endorsement.
Not how it should work.
I try to give the correct endorsement to those who deserve it, sometimes only giving one or two instead of all three depending on who did what.

I have bad days and on those days sometimes it takes a few matches for me to realize I’m being toxic and should quit. I still get shotcaller and good sportsmanship endorsements though. Nobody cares if the endorsement makes sense, they just give them to anyone for the benefits. Same as the people who only do placements for the comp points. People will always take the easiest path to gains.
