I’m tired of arguing with people over this. 5v5 did not help queue times in any way shape or form. Massively widening skill thresholds for matchmaking did and that didn’t happen till season 2.
My QP queue wait times dropped from 15+ minutes between matches to < 3 minutes. That’s a 500% improvement for me, and I definitely enjoy playing more games in the same time frame instead of withering away or using Netflix while waiting.
Your “proof” is a artical that was writen 17 days after OW2 release. Writen by Noell warner who had this juicy line in there.
I used to be basically just a one-trick Mercy main
Also they are talking about Rank Queuetimes. She was complainging about 10 min queue times, when if I recall correctly is about half the quetimes that DPS players had near the end of OW2.
Also this had a screen shot showing 10 mins for tank, 10 mins for DPS, 2 mins for supports.
Which makes sence considering that many felt supports where unfun on OW2 launch.
Tanks were already difficult to obtain in OW1 random match making, so requiring two for 6v6 definitely extended the wait times. Dropping that requirement to a single tank reduced that need, hence the faster match making in 5v5.
