Ending the debate. 5v5 did NOTHING to help queue times

I’m tired of arguing with people over this. 5v5 did not help queue times in any way shape or form. Massively widening skill thresholds for matchmaking did and that didn’t happen till season 2.

Proof:

Sorry to debunk one of the arguments you use to say 5v5 better

Yea I only care about my queue times and my queue times are unplayable.

I mean, filtering the most high stress role that required 2 people into the most high stress role with 1 person (with more responsibility)?

And even less people play tank?

Who knew?

(old tank main who gave up with OW2)

5v5 did nothing to solve the queue time problem, getting rid of any semblance of match making did that.

It DID help,

HOWEVER

Some of the tanks stoped playing game/tank role

My QP queue wait times dropped from 15+ minutes between matches to < 3 minutes. That’s a 500% improvement for me, and I definitely enjoy playing more games in the same time frame instead of withering away or using Netflix while waiting.

Lets make this already unpopular role even more unpopular with haf witted balance patches and more counters to every and each of them

Your “proof” is a artical that was writen 17 days after OW2 release. Writen by Noell warner who had this juicy line in there.

  • I used to be basically just a one-trick Mercy main

Also they are talking about Rank Queuetimes. She was complainging about 10 min queue times, when if I recall correctly is about half the quetimes that DPS players had near the end of OW2.

Also this had a screen shot showing 10 mins for tank, 10 mins for DPS, 2 mins for supports.

Which makes sence considering that many felt supports where unfun on OW2 launch.

…and then more tanks left…

(edge warning)

It’s like, football coach: “why did I go to federal prison?”

“sir your solution to having almost twice the players as there are spots was to unalive the benched players…”

Tanks were already difficult to obtain in OW1 random match making, so requiring two for 6v6 definitely extended the wait times. Dropping that requirement to a single tank reduced that need, hence the faster match making in 5v5.

…and then more tanks left and the maths broke.

Wait times are still under 3 minutes, so I’m still happy with the current results. Overwait1 was not as entertaining.

I used to play flex queue, tank was 90% of my games.

I don’t queue anything apart from support now, I am just here to chill in QP these days.

Good for you. Now look at the article that was posted.

You mean the artical written on 21 October 2022 17 days after the launch?

Ya your proof is about as accurate Save The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus

I do with daily flexes. Most of the time I have to go Sigma for better durability, Zarya for enemy DVA’s, etc…

eww cringe

Whatever works, right? Besides that, having an unblockable beam attack and self cleanse is just too good to ignore.
