I was watching an Overwatch video on Youtube the other day, and someone said matches at the end of a season are full of people that don’t care about their SR. I kind of passed it off at the time. Fast forward to the last 24 hours, I’ve had a leaver or a thrower in every match (unfortunately 90% of the time has been my team).

Interesting, at this point I have 39 games without thrower or leaver.
Yes, this is one of the worst times to play, especially when trying to rank up.
Also other bad times to play…
- First 48 hours of a new Season (mainly the first 12 hours)
- During a Sale
- During the first 48 hours of an event
- Last 72-168 hours (last 3 days or just the whole week of its announced ending)

That really makes no sense since your placements are based off your last season SR… But people does fo a lot of things that makes 0 sense these days sooo i believe it…
Why the first 48 hours of a new season? I would think people would be playing there best trying to get the highest SR.

Simple. Although you’ll still run into some throwers you’ll also be running into smurfs doing placements on accounts they won’t touch the rest of the season or people boosting weaker players who haven’t played this season.

Yup. The end of the season is often a mess as gold+ ranked players like to throw matches to get as low as possible before the end of the season. So that can be a bad time to play, though it’s worse in some seasons than others.
And the early part of a season is rough because those same players that threw down as low as they could at the end of last season will come out swinging for the fences in a new season, blasting and steamrolling their way up out from among the low-ranked players that were never any threat to them.
I guess they do it for fun, or account trading/selling, boosting… whatever. Doesn’t matter to me. I just keep plugging along. I can only be responsible for my own playing. If I catch someone I think is a thrower, I block, report, avoid, and move on. It’s all you can do. People playing outside their earned rank isn’t something Blizzard has cared to anything about, other than swing the ban-hammer a couple times a year. But they always come back.

The first 48 are generally the hardest because there is throwing accounts trying to derank to bronze as fast as possible, new accounts (legit or smurfing/soft-throwing), etc.
Many reason. But usually its easier after the first 48 hours.
Because you’re more likely to catch people on their way up or down or being boosted by their friends who are good

because the mid and lower ranks get a flood of players who just pop in to do placements for gold weapon points.
Then at the end of the season it sort of flips around as it seems the higher ranks run into more just here for placements in the last few days and out. I assume all on alt accounts.

Its true. Do NOT play at the end of the season. I usually get all throwers/leavers then. Its mostly people trying to downrank for the next season.

I swear, I’ve never seen a smurf at all this season up till tonight. There might have been smurfs in my previous games but it wasn’t noticeable enough for me (maybe I played real good :P). I had a thrower today who gave up and stayed in spawn, we called him out but he didn’t budge. He was probably trying to derank (he was still doing placements though, this late in the season). The next game, he was on the enemy team and played incredibly well. Unfortunately for him, despite getting many kills and solo carrying some fights, his team was bad and they lost round 1. He started throwing round 2 and we won. Fast forward another two games, he’s back on the enemy team and decided to play Hog. He pretty much farmed all of us easily and won. He was probably pressed that we called him out and still won over him the next game so he was extra desperate to win against us.

Interesting, actualy at the point I have 64 games in row and one leaver but he left just before we won so that doesnt really matter.
