Our group of irl friends have been playing overwatch comp for years. We try to keep close rank but now we cant play unless we drop to 3 or somehow find a 5th player that also wants to play overwatch and fits our limited schedule just to barely lose or gain any sr due to wide group rules.
Blizzard just gave us a big middle finger for season 10. I guess we just play something else then? Any recommendations for games that dont hate 4 stacks? Weve been playing Helldivers occasionally.
I know this must be a niche scenario but really it truely sucks for us.

Agreed, this causes my 4 stack weâve had since early Overwatch days to not be able to play. Guess weâll have to look for another game since OW doesnât want to support all its players anymore.

Yeah, we had to stop after one left our 5 stack. Itâs just one person that is 1 tier too many

Good riddance. Bye bye.
Next step dedicated solo-queue.

Groups are too much of an issue in a team based game when theyâre thrown in against solos. Blizzard needed to split solo and group queue a long time ago. Plenty of other games do this.

Weirdly there is a very similar post on EU too. So not as niche as youâd think
Hopefully some good forum peeps can step up and join your team!
Did they narrow the group requirements for a 4 stack?
It seems to me if you were able to queue together before this change, you should be able to now. Unless Iâm misunderstanding how theyâve done things.
What Iâm reading is that âwideâ groups can no longer 4 stack, but narrow ones can. Unless theyâve reduced the rank range you should still be able to play together if you could before. Sorry if Iâm wrong but that was my understanding of it.
You can still 4 stack in comp if you are less than 5 divisions apart. Otherwise feel free to play QP were there is no restrictions.
I canât say Iâm not glad you canât 4 stack in comp if you are more than 5 divisions apart, this is most of the time awful games to play as a solo queuer.

I think diamond and under could group within two divisions. Now it is just 5 skill tiers. So If I am high plat I canât group with mid golds etc.

Love this change, as it was sorely needed for years. Play Quickplay, help your friends improve enough so you can all stack easily. Donât want that? Well guess what a lot of players loathe playing against your kind of stack so good riddance.

We just donât play comp anymore because of it. Our team has 6 divisions between us. We have to have a 5 stack and have terrible wide matches now. If someone leaves, itâs not possible to play comp.
ohhh ok so they did indeed lower it, basically cut it in half.
I remember in the OW1 days it was 1000SR apart, which is as you said, the equivalent of two divisions. So you can still queue together but not as a 4 stack since itâs considered a âwideâ group if further than 5 divisions apart and thatâs not allowed⌠I get it now
âOur type of stackâ lol. Dude get off it we have been playing since release. We pretty much have been 50/50 for years as a group. It literally could not be more fair. I have to tactically coach 3 players on different roles so we can all strategically be with in 5 division? Very realistic dude great suggestion. Will also tell them never to play solo again incase they accidently drop or go up a divison. Oh sick dude maybe we should get a 5th who also is within 5 divs and can play the exact same time as 4 players which is already a near impossible task? Atleast if we do we can only ever get wide queue and never rank up or down due to the new neglible perctage change added. Weve been playing 6v6 for year and never asked for 5v5 and we sure as hell didnt ask for this.
And please if another donut suggests playing quickplay as a viable alternative to competive im gonna unplug my ps5 and start my future gaming on switch until i organically drop the 4 division necessary to play as 4 again.

Itâs so dumb for such a team based game. They should be encouraging groups.
Literally the only beef I have with 4-stacks is when none of them join VC, then blame the solo for their mistakes.
Duos and trios are even worse for not joining VC though.
Leave it to Blizzard to come up with this insane âno 4 stacking allowedâ for wide groups just because a few of them are insufferable to play with as a solo.
there are many other problems that give players a horrible experience that go unaddressed, and this is what they choose to focus on, in typical tone-deaf fashion.
We communicate with our solo. Weâre nice to them as well. Most are around our level and do fine.

Yes. Many of them do. I have no issue with them EXCEPT in the relatively rare instances that they donât join VC to help. But the smaller groups are even worse in that regard.
