Employees said that boycotts may do more harm than good

For the people who yells “boycott! boycott! uninstall! don’t buy their games anymore!” please read this and reconsider your decisions. You’re hurting the employee more than you’re hurting the executives.

Some people just don’t think hard enough that their actions will just hurt who they’re saying “they’re fighting to protect”.

It’s happening though.

The best way is to support Unions, but this usually doesn’t go through since the US somehow has a large disdain for Unions, and that the tech industry isn’t also known for its strong Union.

It really does sucks when the only way to show our displeasure is boycotting but it also affects other regular employee job stability.

Oh look, Bullcrap PR that was encouraged through the higher ups.

It’s not just about them, it’s about the Company that people choose to support, it’s a fallacious PR Stunt, and even if it were the case, she can get a better job, that’s not my problem.

“GUYS, IF YOU BOYCOTT THE COMPANY THE HIGHER UPS WILL CUT OUT SALARIES!!!”

So a abuse of power and threatening them because they and the people want to stand up for basic human rights?

Hop off their stick, shill.

Funny how they chose a woman directly with maternity Needs. Best PR move ever.

I’m curious if this person has any suggestions as to what us ants could do instead.

You know there are better arguments than just blindly assuming it’s PR.
Literally just do a brief look at the comments under that twitter thread and you’ll find a number of them.

Me and you ain’t friends, you’ve personally attacked me for my opinions and encouraged my banning, you’re opinion and shilling of blizzard to me is irrelevant, don’t @ me.

Actually, that reminds me, does anyone know where the mute function is, I need to put him on there.

Yeah I mean clearly the more effective way to hurt the company is to keep spending money on their products along with some tweets that expresses that you’re upset and disappointed.

Yes, in the short term there might be people who are going to be hit by this who had nothing to do with it but it is about the future employees of this company and any other one that does this crap.

In a shocking turn of events, virtue signalling ends up not being the most effective way to evoke a positive change.

The SOC investment group? Yeah i’ve read it on reddit discussion. They said it wasn’t even a big investor group or something. I dont have the data if it’s true or not, but how much shares they hold will determine the action executives will take.

This is what I’ve been saying this entire time.

A boycott does not hurt the people who did this. They already got paid.

It hurts the people who will get fired to save the bottom line. And that’s not the bigwigs. That’s the janitor, the security guard, the secretary, the customer service ‘independent contractors’, the low level developers writing painstaking lines of code for 17 hours a day and napping under their desk because they can’t leave since players are going to FREAK OUT if Overwatch 2 is delayed any longer, all while screaming about boycotting the company.

No one understands that when people hate on companies like Acti-Blizz, EA, Ubisoft, etc. they do more harm to the employee than good because every hate the decision makers get lashes out on devs which makes most of the devs leave and great franchises to decay.

For example “The Loot Boxes are surprise mechanics” lady haven’t even known what loot boxes are, the decision makers told her to attempt there yet shes a laughing stock now.

Boycotts make people feel good, but like most actions, like the riots not long ago, they often actually victimize a lot of people who were just innocent bystanders. Not a fan the more you learn about them and see what they really do. There are better ways to accomplish the goal esp. considering the impact of social media these days.

you can check the last paragraph of the article if you’d like. Maybe that’ll do more than boycotting the games.

Of course it’ll do more harm than good, company loses money so instead of cutting overly paid incompetent managers/directors who caused the boycott due to their incompetence, they sack the most vulnerable people who did nothing wrong

no it isn’t failing with how you reply to it.

You can walk away if you don’t have any better arguments than “PR stunt! Corporate Shill!”.

LMAO.
