EMPing on Sombra rework feels way too suicidal

After playing the new rework for a bit I think it’s actually better than the last one, however one issue became even worse with this rework (or at least it feels like) - EMP is way too “press Q to die”, even more so than Pharah’s ult, because at least with Barrage the supports know to immediately start spamming Pharah with heals, with EMP I don’t see supports doing that often.
If I were to simplify why, usually, by the time you EMP, you have already taken some damage due to taking more aggressive positioning, and after pulling it off like all 5 people start shooting you, and with 225 it’s hard to survive that AND try to kill someone too.
Can we get a microbuff to grant Sombra like, 25 overhealth when she EMPs? I think even such a small change like that would improve quality of play sooo much.

Id rather they ether revert the changes or rework her again than do all this microbuff/micronerf stuff.

I make sure to have my TL up when I EMP now. Just EMP, Throw Virus, and TL away since anything else is suicide.

I don’t personally want S12 Sombra back. Now THAT was the unplayable hero.
While I would love to have S6 Sombra back, I realize that is very unlikely, so I’m trying to make suggestions with what I have.

Doing anything on any hero that doesn’t have instant tp, fade from existence or immortality longer than 2 secs nfs feels suicidal in this game… Unless you’re a tank.

I say just revert her back to her original state of overwatch 2 release.

EMP also doesn’t lock you in place for multiple seconds though

Idk tbh if used well EMP is a team fight win even if you die so in that sense it’s even better than barrage and most of the time you don’t even die at least in my experience so it’s much better than barrage

Tbh EMP is so strong that I really don’t think it needs literally any changes. Sombra might need changes but EMP is fine

Also, every ultimate has downsides and risks, EMP is no different from that. You can also EMP and immediately TP out if you feel like the risk is too high.

Just press q after your invis expires in the crowd and tp out.

Yeah since op mention it’s more press q to die than phara ult which there’s no way that’s true. EMP locks down abilities and does almost half your current HP so even supports often have to prioritize keeping people alive through the EMP rather than doing damage, and tanks have to be careful because they, you know, can’t use their defensive abilities and lost half their HP. Same with DPS

Her survivability after an emp is straight up NO different from before.

Feels like a lot of people think that their ult needs to hit everyone and lead to some sick 5k potg. But it doesn’t, get 1-2 picks and your team has a massive advantage and will likely win anyway.

Idk man I’ve had winton just jump over my whole oblivious team, or dva flying through my team and kill me, ofc as a support I can avoid it (unless I’m zen or ana with sleep on cd), but I often misplace my faith in my team all focusing the feeding tank (it’s not feeding if it goes unpunished but is extremely punishable with target prioritisation) and don’t use my support mobility to escape coz I don’t expect anything to be so ballsy… catches me really off guard XD

I think the streamers all saying how fast tanks blow up really doesn’t help the issue… Good mobility and a big hp bar is probably the most survivable type of hero in the game rn, imo.

You play sombra completely different now, its more of a “Stay at side of tank and occasionally get picks” type of playstyle, You gotta adapt

I agree it’s a lot better than barrage and is a very powerful ult, but it just doesn’t feel nice to quite often immediately die after using it, it doesn’t feel fun even if the team fight is won afterwards.

Sombra is just going through her suicidal phase. It’s fine. Everyone has one of those… Right?

Sombra players when they have to carefully consider using a game-winning ultimate ability.

I’m not asking to just basically buff EMP without any drawbacks, I just want to see it more balanced and depend less on a lot of initial burst of usefulness and then probably dying and more on you actually participating in the aftermath and that being the more OP thing.

You dont have to get a 5 man EMP in the middle of their team every time. EMPing 2 people to secure a kill or two is also perfectly fine.

I take it you haven’t been paying attention this week. That is no longer an option. Translocater has an 8 second CD and is tied to stealth (Which lasts 5 seconds). Actually getting into the middle of the enemy team, using EMP, and teleporting out is not possible anymore.
