Hello, I was experiment some emotes and some of them (Hanzo’s “Training”, Genji’s “Cutting Edge” and “Challenge” ) definitely should do damage yet they don’t. I think this is bad and I really ask you to change that. I do not think they should do a big damage, in fact they should do the same amount of damage as a melee attack at most, per hit.
Just think of Luigi’s taunt (the one where he kicks) from Super Smash Bros. games how weak and risky it is yet when connected can even kill the foe, check this out:
Overwatch 1 and 2 (at least the latter) should have the same kind of thing. Just think of the “trolling” ways one could kill the opponent with an emote; for instance, if an opponent is asleep from Ana’s dart we could use a damaging emote to finish off this stunned opponent.
Please make this happen, Blizzard!

I’d love if doomfist’s “fake out” did damage lol
It’s not a fake-out if he actually hits someone.

It’s a fake out because you thought he was gonna hit you and he didn’t but you took damage so he actually did hit you just not his animation rather code so you got bamboozled and increases mental damage

On a related note, I’ve been playing a ton of Nioh 2 lately, and they have a variety of gestures you can do to interact with both NPCs and other players. There’s a type of “enemy” in the game that’s actually friendly as long as you don’t attack it, and it just does a random gesture at you that you’re supposed to repeat back to it to get a bunch of items.
One of them did the “Chest Slap” gesture to me, which to my surprise actually dealt damage when it hit me (fortunately didn’t kill me), but when I repeated it back to them, it also did damage, and the enemy regarded that as an attack, so it became hostile instead of giving me items.
I almost died in that fight, because I was laughing too hard to concentrate on it.

When I first saw this I thought you meant self damage

Well junkrat has a emote of a firecracker blowing up on his face, if emotes do damage, that junkrat emote would do self damage
His passive ability prevents him from damaging himself with explosions, so I think he’s safe there.
So precisely how much dmg does Hog plopping his
on you do…? Asking for future meta.
I like the ones on TF2 where you can do stuff like RPS lol
Oh and a favourite one of mine is Engineer playing his guitar then he smacks you in the head with it lol
