I have no idea how this hasn’t been changed by now but for all non traversal emotes the player should be to cancel the emote in session simply by using an attack button or moving enough that it interrupts the animation. Though this isn’t a prevalent issue within the game, it’s still obnoxious if you press the wrong button and are forced into a 5 second sitting duck period where all you can do is wait for it to be over. Most games allow you to cancel an emote simply by moving so I don’t know why it couldn’t be the same in overwatch, just a thought
i think they got rid of early emote cancelling because people used them to peek behind walls but im not too sure.
I know people still third person peak in other ways so I don’t think this make it too dominant of a method
How do you manage press so wrong that you start emoting? On constant basis? Emoting is evil. With scatter, I emoted a lot to see whats going on behind walls.
If you try to say thank you or hi on the scroll wheel for interactions sometimes it glitches out as I press it so fast that it clicks the emote button, it doesn’t happen on a consistent basis but I’ve seen it happen on a number of occasions with other people as well and it’s just a hindrance
They’ve given specific reasons for why the emotes can’t be cancelled early.
-
As mentioned before, peaking around corners gives an unfair advantage
-
They don’t want you gloating after an apparent team kill and you weren’t paying attention to the reaper coming up behind you so if you’re cocky enough to emote without being 100% sure you’re in the clear you deserve to be punished
The second point seems a bit subjective on the devs team part as even if you wanna gloat a bit you’ll still be locked into at least a 1-2 seconds sitting duck period as you enter and exit the emote animation and making you sit through the entire animation just exasperates this by allowing little to no counter play, I think it’s fine to be punished for a risky emote but being a free kill is just dumb, but I get the this person peaking thing but people do it anyway so there’s really nothing they can do
