Emily for Future Hero Please!

She has a slate that can be worked on well lore wise. I would love to see Emily play a role larger than just being a simple Token character. Her just existing out as the main hero’s girlfriend is not good enough. She adds nothing more than mere tokenism.

However, if they actually flesh her out (especially since she is being the main mascot’s girlfriend, she needs to live up to a lot) Emily as a future hero would prove interesting as I can see her wanting to fight along side Tracer just as Brigitte did to Reinhardt. That or she could have her own agenda. I would love to see more of her and get to know her so that way, I can actually feel a connection to her and not just say “Yeah, that red headed girl, she is the token lesbian character. That is it” I want to see what she can do.

We had some recent sprays of her (The Emily Spray only to Tracer and the Watchpoint Gibraltar spray for the OWL finals) have been making me think they are actually considering her more now. If so, I would like to see what she can do in a comic or short.

I honestly don’t see her as a fighter. Brigitte was closely connected to experienced people since birth and she has core skills that contribute to her presence on the battlefield. Most of the characters we know of in the Overwatch universe are tangled up in this giant web of Overwatch, Talon, and the Omnic Crisis. Emily just doesn’t have those sort of ties, she just feels… idk like a normal person. Just a side character. I’d be surprised if she was included in more lore-related materials, let alone a future hero.

I don’t see her as a fighter at all, but I would love to see her as an important character, who actually does something.

what kinda abilitys could she have? we don’t know much about her.

Honestly, I feel like the Overwatch heroes having more friends and interactions with people outside of the Overwatch conflict humanizes them.

If we make every NPC that appears in the game’s lore heroes, the Overwatch heroes would lose most of what makes us resonate with them.

Nah, I’d much rather she remains an everyday average person. Not everyone needs to be a fighter.

I want her to be a hero, so she could be more than just Tracers girlfriend.

I mean, she literally only exist to show that Tracer is gay.

I wouldn’t be objective to it? I feel that maybe Sam may be a potential hero down the road as well. It would be neat seeing her in action. I’d like to know more about her though. Maybe more appearances in comics or shorts.

Emily would be very interesting. What if she’s somehow related to Moira due to hair color?

Could you imagine how their dinner would go?

“Oh yeah, and Lena? This is my aunt Moira! She’ll be joining us for dinner!”

Tracer :slight_smile::dash::ghost:

I could imagine that tracer did train her to shoot with one of her pistols…

I disagree, they do that in marvel comics and it’s just bad, the world could always use more heroes but not everybody needs to become a hero.

She can contribute more than well enough to the story without being a hero; something it really seems she isn’t. Not being a hero doesn’t mean she has to be “just a red-head lesbia” either

Emily will likely never be a hero. She falls into the same pool as Ingrid and Sam, not a fighter. She will probably never be more important than Ingrid/Sam either, since those two created Brigitte and Pharah, while Emily and Tracer have no kids. She adds nothing more than Jack Morrison having a wife, or Lucio having a girlfriend, the tokenism point doesn’t really matter. Tracer is the main character and she has a significant other. Even if it was an Arthur instead of an Emily, they would have been equally insignificant.

Exactly!

Them having people who aren’t super-powered and connected to the plot humanizes them.

We want the Overwatch heroes to be relatable instead of being these larger-than-life individuals who are superior in every way.

We do not need a cast full of Khans.

I mean, Emily is human just like us all? Has a girlfriend, spends time with loved ones on holidays. If they give her some backstory, who is to say that she not “relatable”? If they never expand upon her lore wise, then yeah she wouldn’t, but that goes for anybody without story.

I don’t see Emily as being a fighter. There’s no evidence of her being that. She just seems like a normal person.

Besides, Emily’s only ever appeared in a single comic. She isn’t in the game itself, nor has she ever appeared in a cinematic short like Brigitte did before she was added to the game as a playable hero. We don’t know anything about her. She also seems like a pretty normal person. She doesn’t have any known ties with Overwatch (aside from being in a relationship with Tracer) either. Then again, nor does D.Va or Lúcio, but still.

Besides2, five out of the seven heroes added to the game post-launch have been female, and the last one was an oversized hamster. I’d like to see a male human character this time, preferably one who is a main tank or a support hero. I don’t think that we need any more damage heroes at the moment.

I’d like to see Emily’s story be more established by her appearing in more comics and a short before she’s added to the game, if she ever will be. Honestly, I doubt that she will. I feel like Tracer wants to go home and have a chill afternoon with a normal person who isn’t yet another fighter, you know.

I just want to see one person in Overwatch’s lore who isn’t a fighter with deadly superweapons, so sue me. :upside_down_face:

You pretty much answered your own question. She isn’t “like a fighter” because well, we had only two or 3 panels shown of her… We know nothing of her as her lore needs to be expanded upon to actually know otherwise so I wouldn’t rule anything out and to be fair? Brigitte was a mechanic. She was just some normal girl following Reinhardt with no indication of her being a warrior yet here she is.

I didn’t ask any questions in my post, but I get your point.

Emily might be a fighter and we just don’t know it yet. Or, she could be like Mei in that in the lore, she’s not a fighter, yet she’s still a playable hero in Overwatch with a weapon and such.

Still, I want to have a few characters in the lore that aren’t playable heroes. Is that so bad?

Besides, I would like to see some heroes that are characters whom we’ve never seen or heard of before, unlike Ana, Sombra, Brigitte, Hammond, etc. It’d be nice to have someone really unexpected yet someone who’d fit right into the game.

Emily might be a hero in the future but not anytime soon since the only things we know about her are that she’s in a relationship with Tracer and that she lives with her; that’s it.

Mei is the exception, not the rule. Emily is one of the least likely NPCs to become a hero, with no reason to become playable.
