my main is in mid diamond but i have an account in low gold. on my low gold account i cant carry myself out of there to save my life and im a mid diamond player. i know for a fact that some of these people in my games down there are a plat player. it would be nice if blizzard made something to help get theses players out of gold because its a bit unfair. i had a hanzo main 5 star on enemy that was hitting every shot, and hes gold??? come on bliizzard fix this
Post from both accounts, and maybe we’ll believe it.
Well, people with good mechanics are down there for several reasons. But mostly due to:either inconsistency or poor gamesense.
Example: both hanzo and phara has ults. Zarya gravs. Gets 4 man grav and they don’t ult.
Also, people have bad attitude. If it’s not 2 2 2 it’s gg. If it’s something I don’t like,it’s also gg.
gold is a mix of:
- very good players playing to less (and mostly are one tricks)
- very bad players who just started and now will slowly down rank (or boosted players)
- technical good players who have bad game sense. (try to do 1 vs 6 and ignore team)
- real gold players technical and game sense. But most of the time don’t know how a team fight looks like.
resulting in most games be determined about how many good enough players you get that will fight as a team vs how many of those players will the enemy have. So most of the times you will know if you will win or loose in the first minute of the game. And like 1 out of 5 matches you already know before the game starts.
Its as simple as this,
If you are better than anyone in gold. I.e a diamond player, you will rank up. If you have been boosted up to diamond or gotten lucky and cant rank out of gold solo then you are clearly a gold player.
I’ve literally played almost every character on alt accounts in gold/plat and ranked up to high plat/low diamond without to much of a problem at all. The problem is not the rank, it is you good sir.
it doesn’t exist

You think Elo hell is your ally. But I was born it, molded by it. I didn’t see gold until I was 400 levels in and by then it was nothing to me but tiresome. Elo hell betrays you because it belongs to me .
Which heroe you play above and down?
Same but usually low gold up to mid/high plat
Lack of consistency is what keeps people out of higher ranks. Hitting every shot one game just means the enemy team had bad movement, your tanks were keeping pressure on counters, or the player was just having a good day. The fact they have a good day some of the time is what keeps them out of silver, but it could have been the best day they’ve had in a while.
Also, I bet you’re trying to carry instead of playing smart or playing different heros. Play your mains, shotcall, and play smart and you’ll climb. But then again who wants two accounts in diamond?
My main is mid diamond and I can hard carry in gold and even plat so I don’t really believe this. I had an 80+% win rate on zen going through plat to hit diamond on my other account lol. You have lots of teammates that are useless, but so does the enemy team. You can definitely get out of gold if you are a diamond player lol.
boosted brig main spotted.
If you really are a mid diamond player you would climb out of gold very easily. Performance based SR would make sure you climb out as fast as possible even with a negative win rate. I think you might be overestimating your skill.
That’s me lol.
This is an accurate description of gold.
If you are mid diamond and cant carry yourself to at least plat it is most definitely an issue with you.
If you can’t capitalise on your theoretical mechanical advantage you should at least be able to outsmart your opponents.
i.e spawn camping as sombra/tracer/hog, making synergistic picks that reinforce your team rather than putting pressure on yourself to hard carry, calling shots and leading the team so they play smart i.e. reminding your teammates their heals are dead so play safe, calling for your team to retreat a lost fight rather than continue to trickle/deathball. Essentially, do anything to help your team play like they are not golds.
Assuming you’ve not been carried/ boosted, your rank on your main is more likely the result of thousands of good decisions than raw skill.
If you’re not consistently able to ‘outskill’ your opponents mechanically, you will still have to fight tooth and nail for your wins.
Rank in this game is very easy to gain just by making the correct decisions and having a little luck, it doesn’t actually have mean you’re straight up better than people even 1000SR below you.
This. The actual mechanical skill between someone at 2300 and 3000 isn’t much different. It is literal game sense and knowledge of how to play the game that can get you to at least 3k. If you aren’t climbing you’re probably making a lot of mistakes… and do you just do placements on your main and then never play it again? are you dropping on that account or holding steady? lets see ittttttttttt
Agreed. Got to 3k using a gamecube controller, anyone can do it with a mouse
A lot of people think if they reach X rank then they are X skill level. And if they are X skill level then they are X skill level with all heroes. But skill level is dependent on every hero. You can be a GM level [Insert hero] and a Bronze level [insert other hero].
I mean, I fell to 2200, and I still climbed back out to Plat, and I’m literally just a Plat player (lord knows I’m not Diamond material).
Is it a grind? Sure. Are there some blatantly unwinnable games? Yea. But there isn’t some magical system that keeps you down where you don’t belong. If you keep at it, you’ll climb. The only issue is people somehow expect immediate results after like 3 games.
