Watching it played on OWL, and I get the ram and all, but I’m also thinking… What is the ‘lore’ purpose of this map?
You’re breaking into ruins to get to Balderich’s armor.
Let’s say the armor one day just went missing. What would you begin to speculate is happening both lore and game?

Reinhardt took it and is wearing it in Balderich’s honor or gave it to a museum
Anything but Zombie Balderich

Someone wanted to give the old man a proper burial after 30-40 years?

Reinhardt is now wearing it but he forgot and left the Overwatch sigil behind, so he has to get that back.

For some reason… This seems like the most practical scenario because you mentioned Reinhardt was conducting it.

Keep in mind what you do in game does not match the lore of the game, route 66 your taking Echo to the deadlock gang depot, but in the lore not only are the attackers and defenders on the same side, Echo is removed from the payload before she even gets to the gas station and the payload is actually taking the deadlock gang back, another instance is Gibraltar another case where the attackers and defenders are on the same side, the in-game isn’t canon for precisely this reason, because half the time the stuff you’re doing is non canon

Yea doesn’t Gibraltar sort of create an alternate timeline if the Defense wins?

Not really what I was going for. I mean… that’s kind of the obvious part of it all. It’s very loosely based in it all.
King’s Row, you’re delivering the omnic nuke. So you win, you just nuked a huge omnic community.
Just thinking kind of like Numbani. Before Doomfist was released, the payload always had the gauntlet in it, then it went missing.
That sort of scenario. You’re playing through Eichenwald, that last push to the throne with the armor… Armor is gone.
Oh my reply was mainly towards the
Also the lore implications would be someone took a dead mans remains
If I recall, Reinhardt says a line in Eichenwald about reclaiming his master’s armor.
I guess that is why he has it as a skin? As far as lore goes, not sure if he actually took it since at the end of “Honor and Glory” Balderich was still wearing it and Reinhardt just walked away.

I actually didn’t know that part. Nice.
Which now convinces me, Rein just loves making a loud entrance. Imagine what birthday parties were like having Rein show up?
I always pictured it as the defenders are the “omnics” after they captured the city, and the attackers are “Rein and company” trying to get Balderichs armor back and retake the castle
Unless it was Reinhardt himself, you are going to see a VERY big, angry, German man rampage.
Maybe to get schematics of the armor for a weapon of Talons own.
Maybe and maybe the reason Reinhardt is there is to stop Talon from taking the armor and building something of their own and he is reclaiming the armor. Maybe Talon wins and boom! New Talon tank hero revealed wearing something similar to Balderich Von Adler.
Oof. That would make some conflict.
Talon got the armor (I.e. disrespected a grave) and modified the Crusader armor to something terrifying for someone else to wear (new tank hero). Rein would be piiiiiiiiiiiii.issed.
Your specific dislike of this potential outcome only makes it sound more plausible through the likelihood of the worst outcome being made true through self fulfilling prophecy.
