Efi and Orisa controversy?

Ok, so Efi is like a 10-12 year old kid right? she made Orisa? mostly from scrapped OR15 units right? So, Orisa has a gun… did Efi get an adult to install it? If not… Efi be playing with guns. Just saying…

Ok, ok. I’m mostly just stirring the pot for fun… but really! Efi works with high powered plasma based munitions designed (by her) to kill people. at no less than 10-12 year of age. like some kind of child soldier.

Is Orisa even YT friendly?

What was that thing solider 76 said? “We’re all soliders now”. The world is on such turmoil in the story that efi did what she had to do to protect her people against specifically doomfist since nobody else was stepping up

yeah but before any of that because this is a fiction. it was a design choice. it’s just a weird one.

I take my kids to the range all the time. Teaching children about guns is a good thing.

The whole Efi thing seems like a bad fan fic that just got shoved in there and really seems out of place tbh.

You do know the world is war torn cause omnics right…

Does that mean Efi can become a hero now?

ok, i looked it up she’s 11. this was a joke but now my head is in it a bit.

So is an 11 year old mentally and emotionally developed enough to make a decision, or series of decisions that not only could, but are intended to end human life? If no- then she shouldn’t be revered for doing so. And, if yes- then by that logic 11 year olds should be charged as adults for homicide.

Mine were. If an adult cannot teach their children about firearms, that’s the adults fault. My kids were taught a gun is ALWAYS loaded, and the primary reason for having one is ending life, be that animal or otherwise. My kids don’t play with guns, and if they had the intelligence to build an Orisa, I think they would be one better then we got in the game.

Please don’t try to transfer applicable law from the USA or Europe 1:1 to an imaginary world that shows a possible future that also has a world war behind it.

Furthermore, I think Efi’s father is also involved in some way, I could be wrong.

Ok, you’re too caught up on the bit about your kids gun safety. you’ve lost in context to the question. This isn’t about just gun safety. Efi kills people. She uses a robot to do it. Shes 11. No stable parent would trust their 11 year old to make the decision to determine when and how to end the life of another human.

right? riiiiiight?

There’s a correct and incorrect answer here.

If we are splitting hairs, she is killing animated fictional characters. So…not sure what the controversy is.

Naw its more fun to compare directly. Now if concepts of morality were completely chucked out the window for comedic or narrative reasons this wouldn’t be a fun topic. think saints row or warhammer.

Either she shouldn’t have been allowed anywhere near the equipment. or in Numbani, in the overwatch universe, 11 year olds are mentally and emotionally adults in terms of criminal liability.

How dare these people who grew up in war-torn countries exhibit violence?
Only the wealthy has that right. Through money and paid military.

Efi is a violent terrorist who stole unauthorised equipment to create a “safety” robot and protect her country while we have an understanding with her government to exploit these diamond mines legally. We shall put her wretched actions to a stop. For freedom. For justice.
Down with Efi.

…how many 11 year old are we introduced to in the Overwatch Universe?

You do not want to use a real world example, mine, as it undermines your argument. What you do want to do is argue that, based on real morality, the fictional world should function the same way, but different.

I will give you what want.

Oh, you are so brave to point out that a child shouldn’t be creating (I will even drop one of those catchy buzz phrases) weapons of war. How dare the fictional society allow an 11 year old, oh the horror, from crafting a murder robot. Has Blizzard lost their mind???

Ok now, this guy gets it!

“I’m only following my programming” Sounds like what the robot SS would say…

whoa this guys getting heated. chill bud were trying to have fun here. If you can’t admit that an 11 year old deciding to kill people isn’t even a little messed up in any way? then sorry… but your a little messed up in some way. its barely even a controversy nobody cares im just shining light on an oddity. for >fun<

Today we have a group just like that here. Problem is, we can’t talk about them on the forums.

You could say that about a lot of characters in Overwatch. Many of them really are just Mary Sues.
