Heroes like Sombra and Genji are nowadays mostly played for their ultimate because their ultimates are way more powerful than their normal kits. Now here’s Echo, where her ultimate allows herself to turn into those heroes without the disadvantage of having to play their kits.
But of course there’s a lot that I’m assuming here, like Echo successfully aiming at Genji and Sombra every time (Boostio) and also the Echo successfully getting EMP/Blade every time, especially before the enemy does. I’m also assuming that the enemy team is playing Genji/Sombra anyways which isn’t very likely.
How do you think ultbot heroes will fare against Echo?

Yeah, devs are really shooting themselves in the foot by making Echo into a hero that can skip the main weakness of ult bot heroes. Especially given that Echo isn’t an ultbot herself and actually has a very solid kit otherwise.
I’d even go to the lengths to say that she has way too big of a kit. She really doesn’t need the E as a barrier break and a finisher, but she has it anyway.

In my opinion she wasn’t designed as a DPS from the beginning, but rather had to be adapted - honestly, Jeff hasn’t sold me that she’s supposed to be a DPS hero in that latest developer update, I guess he looked a bit shaky talking about her.
She feels and looks overloaded and rushedly designed.
This is, however, a personal opinion and - as everyone else - I’m entitled to be wrong and be corrected.
Cheers.
Edit: I swapped a word, sorry. English is kinda rusty rn.

Are people forgetting that Echo can only “echo” a hero that’s on the other team? It’s not like she can just become any hero in the game.
True, but I think there’s still an argument to be made that this’ll turn people away from picking those ultbot heroes (plenty of whom aren’t really in that good a spot to begin with) because now it’ll mean the enemy Echo has access to said ults without the limited kits said heroes have holding them and their team back.
well sombra can try to hack her and makes a bit of her ult useless
Buff sombra though, imagine hack->emp->hack echo, her ult became useless
but of course, sombra can barely hack so

I think that will be the reason Echo will be broken: she can skip the traditional methods of building ultimate charge as that hero and skip the disadvantages of having to play that hero to get ultimate and also skip the disadvantages of having a powerful but high risk ultimate such as high noon, because she doesn’t need to fear death when she uses the ultimate, she will automatically get back to full health and can just yeet away.
Echo has a good kit of her own, so whatever character she copies, she doesn’t have the disadvantage of having a poor kit or poor ultimate for the duration of the whole game as she has the ability to select whatever good ultimate or kit she wants to use whenever, completely killing any kind of ultimate tracking and economy this game used to have.
Echo might be a cool addition, but she’ll probably be the most broken and most problematic addition to the game ever.
It’s honestly not just the ultimates one has to watch out for… copying kits like Doomfist on a pinch and going on a rampage and then getting one instagib can really turn the tables. The stalling capacity is also massive if one copies stall heroes like Mei and Ball and suddenly your team has double stall and potentially double control point ultimate for 15 seconds.
