I do not own OW on console but I can see how this would be useful.
Personally I cannot use a controller even if my life depended on it.

Wait uhm I’m not familiar with console controllers, sorry. I play on PC. That might not be useful for your topic at all. Sorry.
On PC at least everything is the same. WASD movement in a horizontal plain, mouse for direction, and space for vertical ascension. Both for Mercy’s Valk and Echo’s E.
Then after the ability ended, both glide passively as long as you’re pressing space.

so there are these two like trigger buttons that u can use, 1 is for primary fire, the other for secondary fire by default
mercy can use secondary fire for glide as well as A/Jump by default
