Echo is too complicated

The average support player in diamond doesn’t understand her ult and thinks she gets dmg resist and bigger hp pool.

People stop healing me when I ult on echo.

Here are some takes from other echo players:

  • “Point is, when echo ults players just assume you can survive on your own and just ignore you for other people.
Im not sure if its because she gets a second life or what, but people just don’t seem to bother with a duplicated echo, which a lot of the time stops you from getting an ult.”

  • “My mmr is masters and people still do this to me. “He ulted, he’s self sufficient”
NO IM NOT IM A REIN WITH 300 HP, PLEASE”

  • “When you dupe a tank, 80% of the time, if your team supported so you could build a tank ult, you’d win the fight.”

Basically. Echo is unplayable because the hero design is too complicated for the Overwatch playerbase.

Doesn’t bode well for potential future hero releases. They will have to keep it simpler for the overwatch community.

It’s best to copy heroes with a free escape or high dmg resistance. If the enemy doesn’t have that then just use it as a second life. As a buff I wish her ult would let you copy someone on your team.

I posted in your other thread, but basically I never see her when she’s ulting.

Possible remedies:

  • make echo mid ult blinking red, instead of blue glow like nano.

  • symbol floating above the head of the echo that is blinking and telling supports that this target needs to be healed. Maybe a blinking +.

  • voiceline from echo saying “keep me alive” looping for the entire ult duration.

Hi there, support main here!

Ninety percent of Echo players love to ult in the most accessible spot for every gun on the entire enemy team. Bonus points for when they also ensure they’re out of line of sight of all allied supports. It’s like some kind of gift with the number of times I’ve seen this achieved, after which they’re promptly erased by our opponents.

Believe me, I wanna pump an Echo full of heals and buffs and see how many ults they can get in their ult-ing form but I swear they try make it as difficult as possible…

This is true for basically everything in Overwatch, though.

I’ve found that simply copying a support hero allows you to win fights EZ. Support ultimates in general are busted AF.

Kiriko is an easy copy yeah. Just pocket your tank and you’ll get her ult. If they focus you just tp or suzu makes it impossible to die. Also her ult is bananas.

I think it’s two things

  1. bad support players think “If I heal them their health will just go away in 5 seconds anyway when the ult runs out” and prioritize healing the tank at 80% hp because it’s “real” health
  2. A bad enemy team will actually be able to focus fire on the big flashy blue target who is about to get 2 ults where they normally aren’t capable of coordinating that much

I have been in situations where I had enough time to hug a wall, turn around and look directly at my support healing other targets while im 100hp mid echo ult.

Tanks give you enough tools to survive the focus, as designed. But when you get zero heals you often have to burn through cooldowns unnecessarily because your support is slacking.

Good example is ulting a orisa as echo. You fortify, farm ult, but instead of being able to then use the staff spin to get into a good ulting position. You have to use it to basically stand still and hope that the support decides to heal you.

Its true though, shes rarely played in GM because she requires you to be highly skilled with every character in the game. And shes bad in low ranks because she requires you to be able to play every character.

I watched a bit of a tournament recently where Sojourn was banned and echo had a lot of play. They also seemed to take her ult into consideration, not wanting to run Ram incase of copy. It was cool stuff. I don’t know much about the Echo life.
