Forget about Whether Echo was released as a dps or not.
Yes her design and aesthetic feel more as support but let’s be realistic… look what they ended up doing to Symmetra.
The real issue is the lack of supports in the roster, period. Especially with this crazy idea of hero bans going on and role que. Honestly, once she is released, this que will be ludicrous.
No one is asking for 4 supports in a row. But having two sups and or tanks being released yearly will slowly help us catch up. Not to mention they are being very slow with hero releases.
The biggest gripe i have is, even with the low amount of sup roster we have… why remove one of our own from our role? AKA symmetra???
At least Rework symmetry back as a support. Her original rework should of been focused on improving her support role capabilities. This is utterly ridiculous.
That’s the idea. her rework could of been focused to bring healing into her design/kit. She already had very strong utility. But instead, they gave us this mess. and removed a hero from the sup roster.
What i find to be the most concerning part is she is probably the 32th and last ow1 character. So this means no more Heroes until ow2… I seriously hope not.
I bet if Echo was support, people will still claim how Ana and Moira are the “main healer support heroes” and never picked Echo ever again.
No, wait…what am I saying…they will be exhilarated that they FINALLY got a support hero which they will not play because it’s like Lucio or something similar which they are unable to perform well so Ana and Moira are still “main healer support heroes”.
I will write that in every Echo post! We should (the community) NOT let them release her as DPS! We have MORE THAN enough DPSers! Also, the people will keep picking Genji/Widow/Hanzo/Mccree no matter how many DPS heroes they are going to add. We can wait to rework her. Her “Ultimate: Duplicate” can be easily turned to a support one, her ability “Flight” it’s ready for a support hero. They only need to rework her other abilities. It is really dumb to release her as DPS and as a community, we can do it with our feedback! It’s hard and almost impossible but we should try it! They knew how to ban 2 out of 7 Support heroes the last time but they can’t understand that we need more support heroes for a balanced game? As I read on her bio, making her a support does not change her lore! Blizzard will hear us if we keep posting and sharing negative feedback!
I personally don’t complain about this issue. I only agree that mercy is suppose to be a main healer and have strong single burst healing. Its what mainly separates her from the others. right now she is in a weird place.
I main Bridge, mercy mostly. At time i go Moira because one i like her and two she has the healing potential required to carry bad players. Sometimes i go ana if moria is taken and my extra healer ether is not doing their job that well or team just too bad.
Baptiste is just so generic and boring to me so i avoid.
I play lucio on certain maps or teams if i can’t get bridge to work.
No, i don’t need ana nor moria. Go to my match history. Sym was my top support char used. before their BS happen.
I honestly fell like her ult serves a Support more then a DPS honestly. Think about it: what’s better for a support than the opponent’s best hero? It even acts like a two-edged sword so fells less broken then a changing DPS. Her flight tho kinda outclasses Pharah and Mercy all together. Her damage is ridiculously high rn, no doubt it will get nerfed, so really they just need to give her some HEALING ability of some kind and there you go: A very viable and cool Support to play.
I hope not either, because I want that Null Sector Omnic, and people are still waiting for Mauga, but part of me truly believes they will hoard new heroes until OW2, so I was surprised to see them announce Echo. I’m glad she’s not just a robot mercy.
I guess I’m alone when I say I think the support roster is going in a decent enough direction despite it definitely having ample room for improvement and some more characters. Tanks, however, I don’t know.
Yea, what got me by surprise is a DPS hero to “close” ow1. I mean, Echo looks good, sounds cool but she is not what we expected not only as a character but what the game needed at this time.
Oh, oof. It’s a shame, but I guess they do need the manpower to be focused on OW2, so I assume the Null Sector one will be a hero in OW2 at launch. That’s pretty cool, though I really rather not wait. Sorry I’m harping on about that specific guy btw. Mauga being held captive until OW2 seems very weird, seeing as Sigma’s kit came from an attempt to make his.
