So I tried out Echo in the PTR didn’t like her playstyle but couldn’t figure out why.
Then i jumped on and played her a little more when she went live, still couldn’t figure it out.
But yesterday I played a bunch of Echo back-to-back and i finally cracked the code. Echo’s character feels disconnected from the physics of the game. No spread or recoil from her shots or abilities, her flight just feels like some one turned collision off. The only time it feels like I’m playing a fully integrated character is during ult.
And I know this is all matter of opinion, but for other people who don’t know what they don’t like about Echo, hopefully this helps.
yea her base movement “on the ground” feels so weird.
its not like zen or sigma who basically walk but without wobble or footsteps.
with her it feels more like… lucio, but walking IN the air? its hard to describe but i think i know what you mean.
She is cinematic mode personified lol
I’ve noticed she’s not being picked that much, it’s like people already lost interest.
Echo is not gonna be one of the most popular heroes imo.
Thank you for taking my over thought out explanation and just cutting it down to like 5 words lmao
but yeah, pretty much just, “what if we gave cinematic mode weapons”
@Sadness-
which is sad,she is a really cool character design, with a kit with a lot of potential
but i think part of the decline in interest might just because she doesn’t really feel like anything, in game
the only time i got the “yeah, i did it feeling” was with ult, even when getting kills w/o it
She feels good to me
She’s too floaty, I first noticed it when stopping, you have movement deceleration which feels totally wrong in OW. All of her movement feels floaty and weightless. It’s very discerning after playing other heroes, including pharah.
She’s not being picked much because she is really squishy, doesn’t feel like a DPS and more akin to Mercy which we know DPS mains hate and it is hard to synergise with her
Plus being pure projectile, their aim and stuff just drops.
