I do not see much about Echo in OW2.
I feel she is balanced. No one is really complaining about her???
I wish her ult didnt low the tank health when copied, but overall she feels nice to play. ![]()

Fine and how she should have been for OW1 as well.
She’s off-meta, but still good.
The 3rd dimension hurts my brain, so I zug zug on Ashe instead.
Yea it’s weird, it’s like she doesn’t exist at all with these forums.
Now that i think about it I should start playing her more and make a judgement. Was never really great with her tho
In a world where Genji throws ninja stars made of paper, and doesn’t even get to throw many before reloading Echo is way too strong.
Same with the actual game. Echo was the quietest and least impactful hero release in the history of the game. She barely got any changes since release and never caused any uproar.
She, by all means, is the definition of “okay”
Nah she did get complaints later after launch with being a tank melter. Her beam was significantly nerfed
Also her ammo count was nerfed
Echo is extremely strong she just has a very high skill floor and possibly the highest skill ceiling of any character given her ult, and is - all 'round - very similar to Genji given her execution beam gives her insane snowball potential. She is also one of the few DPS in the game that tanks really need to respect.
The complaints were pretty minor and tame compared to all other hero releases. Ana got blasted instantly because of her 2 CCs and insane ult. Sombra was annoying as hell but quickly became a laughing stock after getting over nerfed. Doom was probably the most hyped up hero and a fan favorite. Sigma and Orisa while unassuming at first went on to become the longest meta in all of OW. Ashe is one of the top picked DPS. Brig literally destroyed the game on release. Bap also had plenty of controversy by introducing literal immortality. Ball became both the most loved and hated hero at the same time, same with Moira.
By comparison, Echo just kind of existed after getting added. Sure, she got some changes but none of them were groundbreaking. I assume that most of her irrelevance comes simply from the fact that she was the last hero released in OW1, at a time where the playerbase was already dwindling and she never had any sort of “big welcome party” that most other heroes got before release. The most we’ve got to see was literally one scene from McCree’s short.
she’s a rewarding character to learn, versatile, and a super hard solo counter to phara mercy
for the most part i don’t even think she’s too difficult, it’s mostly being able to land your stickies at close to midrange and knowing how to play angles especially vertical angles. you get those down along with the basics and you can have a lot of impact
They really need to add back in her movement speed buff. She was great before this patch. Now she dies way more often.
Echo’s release was met with tons of whining from support players about how the character was “supposed to be a support” even though Blizzard never confirmed that or showed off anything to make you think that.
She’s good. And probably always will be good. She’s far too versatile of a hero to ever be bad. She can be pressured by hitscan but it’s tough to hard counter her if she’s played right.
Echo is one of my go to dps plays lately. Part of it is that her mobility is similar to mercys, and part of it is csuse she is so useful. Got a torb turret, gimme 7 seconds. Annying widow, 3 seconds. Rein with his sheild up, lemme reposition real quick. Shes ballanced and fun, and hopefully blizzard leaves her the f alone
She’s rather balanced at the moment that it’s simply not worth talking about. Typically people only complain about heroes that are either OP, UP, or just awful to play against and she doesn’t really fit any of those categories as what she does is highly straightforward outside of her already nerfed ultimate in OW2.
I think it’s hilarious how you take every opportunity to bash support players over the most petty things, when they are literally right that she was supposed to be a support hero at first but her ultimate created issues with the role. Not to mention how limited the support category of heroes is meanwhile they’re creating another character for the already largest role of heroes makes the frustration pretty understandable.
From a GameSpot interview with Geoff Goodman:
“The original idea was to keep her support, and then you’d be able to do this full clone ability that she has now,” he explained. "But then, pretty quickly, we realized that ultimate is really cool, but it’s not really going to work as a support, because I don’t think you really want your healer to suddenly become a tank or DPS, and now you don’t have a healer. Whereas somebody in the DPS role is much more flexible.
I think the reason why no one complains about her (anymore) is because Sojourn is still OP. Echo herself is a strong DPS hero but I don’t think she’s really OP like the time her ult max HP had no limits
I think her ult is bad.
I mean you copy someone else and hope to get his ult…
It should directly copy someone´s ult or smth i don´t know.
No I get that, but characters change during development which is why they usually don’t tell you details like that. She was never confirmed or heavily hinted at being a support so anyone complaining about the particular character not being one was stupid.
That interview is post release information. Pre release all we saw from Echo was her shooting explosives and lasers and being a general damage dealer. There was never any reason to explicitly assume she would be a support beyond the shallow idea of her character being sleek and that equaling support.
I don’t bash support players, I bash idiots. Just turns out that a large number of people that vist this forum are support players looking to complain about things.
I think it was less about Echo herself and more about their decision to make the last hero before The Great Content Drought a DPS.
If they were dead set on her being DPS they should’ve pushed for a support instead.I would’ve 100% been mad and complained here on the forums that it’s not Echo but I would’ve understood when they would’ve revealed her role.
I like her sticky nades
I like her beam
I hate her primary fire, still feels bad ever since she launched
