Not going to lie, I’ve just started putting time into echo (1500 hour account) and I can’t help but enjoy playing this hero.
I mean I actually enjoy the game while playing echo.
It’s somewhat like playing Genji in regards to how her kit works; as Echo you can’t invest everything at once, you can’t go in without a plan of escape, and you really shouldn’t go in alone. She’s an opportunistic hero, like Genji, who has the ability to quickly close-out a kill vs an enemy whose HP has been neglected or chunked-down by some other damage source but, you have to be looking for that opportunity all the time, you can’t really sleep during team fights.
The way this hero moves is just… smooth. Literally lol, as well as the general feel of the gameplay. The way she floats about and jets around is as artistically designed as some of her skins. Even her projectiles move in a way that expresses grace.
I enjoy the fact that her weapons are moderately difficult to master given the slow projectile speed; I don’t feel like I’ve picked-up this hero and am instantly getting full value from all her abilities. I feel I need to continue practicing with her to really nail-down my ability to land stickies vs primary fire, and to go seamless between landing each.
Her ult is fun. Being able to momentarily give the enemy team a different threat that requires certain changes in strategy gives a feeling of impact other heroes don’t quite match. On this same note, Echo not returning to full health after her ult was a great change since getting an extra life (for all intents and purposes) felt cheap.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just geeking-out a bit since I’ve not put hours into this hero like I have the others but hey, I’m having fun in OW for new reasons and I’m happy about it lol
