Since the logic with tanks is that people won’t play tanks unless they can kill everything. In order for tanks to “tank things” they just need to be DPS heroes with 5x more health/defense. Something about being the main character.
So I figured, why not apply that logic to support heroes as well and just give them the same damage output as DPS heroes? That way supports will be much more fun and popular, and they won’t need to rely on DPS players to kill stuff (just like tanks).
The roles should ideally be:
Tanks:
Strengths: high DPS + defense. Weakness: can’t heal.
Supports:
Strengths: high DPS + heals. Weakness: can’t tank.
DPS:
Strengths: who cares, no need. Weaknesses: everything.
If it’s “DPS + DPS” does it mean they do more damage than supports / tanks? then we’re back to square 1, i.e. how it is now.
If it’s not and they only do the same damage then what’s the point in that role?
People have never really had a problem with DPS role being redundant, because DPS player suck. Every time someone brings up the fact that tank damage is too high, they’re told that nobody will play tank unless they can just hold down W and kill everything in their way while having the best defense. So I figured, maybe the solution is to let support heroes do that too.
Almost all of them already do. Moira, Kiriko, Bapt, Zen, hell even Lucio can rack up pretty high damage. The reality is that most support players either don’t have the game sense to dps in downtime, or lack the mechanical aiming skill to actually make it worthwhile.
Edit: Like people legit think Moira’s the only support DPS monster, but it’s not even that she’s exactly doing “more” than other supports can do, it’s just easier to actually land the succ than something like a Zen orb.
ya move them to support or tank then let’s see how fast the game falls it will be amazing to make Genji a tank because apparently, people think he’s already one with deflect and let’s ramp his health to 500 seems fair for a tank of his size lol
The Support role isn’t mechanically demanding even when fighting enemy targets. Brigitte and Moira should prove this. The problem is the split focus between healing team mates and defending oneself. Some support players don’t really know how to handle the split, and feel like the rest of the team should be doing this instead of defending themselves.
Given in the past, the Tank/Defense role tended to handle this job, there is that assumption that it is the rest of the team’s job to defend them.
okay and support does have the best passive in the game that activates in a second it’s super strong and makes some support like Mercy and Moira pocketing one another almost impossible to kill
That’s the idea, tanks and supports should be almost impossible to kill. Otherwise how will those roles be fun? Nobody will want to play them unless they’re super strong.
Agree but disagree. There’s still option C: “Be aggressive and get picks”. Being a team player is important but being a good player is knowing what value is where, and how to get rid of it. You’re not always just healing and defending yourself unless you’re literally just playing Mercy. If you’re Zen, this is probably the only mode you’re ever in.
This is especially the case in OW2. Off point dueling is almost all that happens at higher ssr. It’s why Rein is a nobody pick atm. And it’s also why Kiriko is goated.
