You gotta differentiate between two different cases
- Someone threw hard and deranked down to where you’re at, and now they wanna climb again to repeat, so they wipe the floor with you= THIS IS BAD
- Someone bought a 2nd copy of game and is already really good from the start and is playing to best of their ability = THIS IS OK

Alt account player here. My MMR should be where it belongs since I’ve played with GM stacks in QP multiple times, but as of lately for some reason I’ve been getting into games with below diamond players even though I’ve won the majority of those GM games. In other words the matchmaking literally forces me to “smurf”. Can’t really do anything about it even though I try to tryhard and for example yesterday I went 41-5 on McCree and 31-3 on Zarya

Smurfs are healthy for OW incomes in the way that they bought the game 2, 3 even 4 times if not more, but in the mean time they are a kind of pollution for the community, indeed I know some players who simply left the game and might not buy OW2 because of their experience with the current chapter.
What makes a player good in any game is the time invested in it, a typical smurf can invest 2000 hours in less than half a year to master single hero. A regular player will invest around 450-600 hours a year in one or many heroes.
I begin to see smurfs in QP since a while and I know it’s just a beginning, QP will become as much annoying than competitive in a very short period of time.
That’s a common issue with FPS video games and it seems that there’s no solution to cure it.
What can we say to a someone who spend 8+ hours everyday on a video game?
Something like, get a life! Or move your bum buns from the chair!
There’s parents who smash the consoles and PC of their kids because they can’t see them waste their future in front of a screen.
The issue isn’t OW, it isn’t video games, FPS just comes with smurfs over time, better is the game more there’s smurfs.
I don’t think they are bad people or anything of this order, most of them aren’t toxic but I do believe that they should invest more time in books & gyms because entertainment is what comes once responsibilities are fulfilled.
Even though smurfs are a good opportunity to learn tricks, I sometime feel kind of sad for them.
This is the problem. Jeff said the game quickly filters them out, then why are diamond/masters smurfs still in gold/plat matches for so long? Why are level 100 players that usually play in GM still playing in Plat even though the game is supposed to quickly filter them? Why is it so bugged?
I would be fine with smurfs if I didn’t get them on either team every other game. But as of right know, they don’t get “filtered out” as quickly as Jeff claimed.

okay so i’m not crazy then? I literally came here to find out why there were two different throwing widows in a row in my last two games. first game on my team, second game on enemy team
Theres not really difference.
1.- they are messing with the matchmaking making games unfair so people are ran over or run over others.
2.- Casuals or friends go to arcade or quickplay to just play, and the matchmaking messed up makes it unfair till they decide to stop playing. Cause you can win some you can lose others, but the matchmaking can make you have again “we are ran over, we run over others, no balanced matches”.
